Compilation of cheap mirror scares

02.08.2010

There are enough Hollywood movie clichés that some compilations of them could probably almost be feature-length. But for now, here's enough to last for a few minutes.

Fourfour, who previously assembed the excellent collection of "No signal" scenes, have put together clips with yet another clearly overused movie moment - the reflection jump-fright. Which is usually a cheap fake-out, but occasionally ends with a satisfyingly grisly death.

Extra Tidbit: Shouldn't the glorious face-rip from POLTERGEIST count? What else was overlooked?

Use a wee less

Good compilation of clips. It could include Hulk (2003) and Boogeyman (1980). Any movie cliche is also a literary convention. And, conventions can be a established, effective, expected plot devices. For example, the V for Vendetta clip still works, for it actually surprises audiences. The Broken's plot requires mirror scares both for its storyline and theme about doppelgangers. However, any literary convention should not substitute for creative/original thinking in the creative process.

If you're talking about the one with Lena Heady's reflection attacking her when she bends down, that's from the fairly-recent evil doppelganger film 'The Broken'.

If you're talking about the clip that plays after the Fourfour name comes up, that's from the end of 'Phantasm'.
