WB HOME VIDEO PANEL

300

Presented by Zack Snyder, Frank Miller, and an ass-kissing of the fans via video of Gerard Butler, 300 is ready to explode on your home theatre with enough special features to make your loin cloth wet. Snyder started everything off by introducing a new trailer for the DVD which showed a lot of behind the scenes green-screen footage and a deleted moment featuring a giant bald creature getting his leg cut off at the hands of King Leonidas. That's about it for deleted scenes though as Snyder pointed out that they just don't exist. "The majority of what we shot is in the film" says the director as Frank Miller continuously gives people the evil eye throughout the room. Last year's Con favourite seems to have worn out its welcome with the fans though as the Q&A quickly goes off track:

  • The first two questions were about working with such hot guys and if Snyder was ever turned on. He jokingly said he was. I'm pretty sure Frank Miller killed the guy that asked the question, with his mind, before he got back to his seat.

  • SIN CITY 2 has been delayed due to some financial issues.

  • Miller has put comic writing behind him for the time being as he is currently storyboarding THE SPIRIT for the start of production in Albuquerque very soon.

  • Snyder says he'd love to re-visit the zombie genre, but has no plans set to expand the DAWN OF THE DEAD universe right now.

  • The DVD comes out in all formats on July 31. Click HERE to pre-order yourself a copy.

BLADE RUNNER

Ridley Scott sat in on the panel along with stars Sean Young, James Wong, Joe Turkel, Joanna Cassidy, and legendary Futurist, Syd Mead. It wasn't long before we were treated to the new BLADE RUNNER footage that was shot for the film featuring Cassidy, as Zhora in her famous raincoat-dress, getting shot and falling through a glass panel. The obvious use of a double haunted Scott for years. We then got to see a trailer for the three-and-a-half-hour documentary titled DANGEROUS DAYS: MAKING OF BLADE RUNNER which showed highlights of interviews with Scott, Rutger Hauer, Edward James Olmos, Daryl Hannah, and Harrison Ford. Here are the highlights:

  • The Ultimate Collector's Edition (above) comes with five versions of the film: The Final Cut (the latest version of the film), The 1982 Theatrical Version, The 1982 International Version, The 1992 Director's Cut, and the rare Workprint Edition.

  • The films is also being released with four disc and two disc editions. All will highlight the Final Cut which will also get a limited theatrical run.

  • Work started on the collector's set in 2000.

  • Sean Young and Joanna Cassidy both look pretty good. Cassidy made sure to announce she wore the original costume for the new scenes and it still fits fine.

  • When Scott was asked about his thoughts on ALIEN VS. PREDATOR there was silence. He finally just said, "It is what it is."

  • James Wong and Joe Turkel really lightened the mood with their back and forth bitching. Turkel hilariously re-lived the moment he had to kiss Rutger Hauer on the mouth.

  • The Collector's Edition DVDs will be available in all formats on December 18. Click HERE to pre-order yourself a copy.

my erection still hasnt subsided...finally, the way it should have been...5 discs of coolness, the best film ever made gets the treatment it deserves. i just wish hd or bluray had been decided as a format winner, but as they both still equal each other, i cant buy until one is victorius, so i'll go with the regular set for now to make sure i get one. already pre ordered for dec and drooling in...

I think I can go ahead and say that the Blade Runner Ultimate Collector's Edition is going to be the single greatest DVD release of all time.
