CON: Watchmen poster!

Our very own Mike Sampson checked into the Warner Bros' panel this morning and even though there weren't too many scoops (although Kate Beckinsale looked about as hot as hot can be), Zach Snyder came out and talked about WATCHMEN and though the "big scoop" was already unveiled a few days prior (all of the casting for the film can be found HERE - he said that they actually wanted to present that at the Con, but the story broke early), he did bring along a first look at the film's Comic Con teaser poster, which you can see below. More coolness to come...! More to come on on www.watchmenmovie.com

really nice

It's really loyal to the comic and really gives hope, seeing as they aren't pulling away at all and trying to change the formula for film and are rather embracing the comic origins, sort of like the fanfare Snyder did with 300, which is really good.

i love that it's gibbons' art

...but I honestly don't see this being hung in theatres to promote it. And I'm a little confused as to why Snyder has decided not to do a 300-style cgi work and exchange that for more practical location shooting. It's got a definite otherworldly feel to it and a lot of effects (there's a big naked blue guy that can become 50 feet tall, for chrissakes...) that seem to demand a more cg-atmosphere. However, kudos to Snyder for not trying to pull a Joel Silver and right out of the gate telling

So do I.

Cool stuff

I think this poster really sums up how true to the material Snyder intends to be. Rather than some image of actual actors, it is a drawing from Gibbons himself. Good call.
