This year marks the 75th anniversary of Marvel Comics, and the company has some big things planned. Artist Alex Ross will be creating special 75th anniversary covers, and Marvel will be releasing exclusive interviews, videos and galleries on the company's comics, films and television series for their anniversary.

Marvel kicked off their celebration recently with this 75th anniversary trailer, narrated by Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. You can check it out below, and you can also visit Marvel.com/75 all year long for updates during their anniversary celebration. Marvel has a couple of movies out this year you may have heard of (CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY), and I'm sure they will play a big part in helping Marvel celebrate the milestone.

Congratuwelldone, Marvel!

Technically my first Marvel comics would have been their 1980s run of Transformers. I still have a big bag of them at home, and my comic collection has expanded considerably since then.

Back in the seventies I read a Daredevil comic featuring the Black Widow, a Marvel Team Up with Spiderman and Captain Marvel and an issue of Thor in which he fought the Super Skrull.

just noticed

out of all the iconic characters flashed at the beginning of this video, pretty much all have appeared in one film or another...except Namor. Where is our wing-footed Aqua-Superman? WHERE!?!

Uncanny X-Men # 234 - The Brood were back, infecting only mutants. Genosha would be introduced in the following issue. I had a LOT of catching up to do and enjoyed every second of it.

My first comic book was Marvel's RoboCop - "Destroyed?" issue back in 1990 I think.

That was fun.

It also happens to be Batman's 75th anniversary.

I'm going to return to my corner and hope DC gets a proper cinematic universe up and running because Marvel sure as hell has. And in the mean time, congrats to the House of M.
