Cool Videos: Even the Honest Trailers guys can't mock the awful After Earth

Oct. 8, 2013by: Alex Maidy

Ah, AFTER EARTH. What a pile of dog crap. Usually, Will Smith and Jaden Smith. The sheer difficulty that they encounter when reviewing the film goes to show what an accomplishment this movie is.

I spent the requisite hours to watch AFTER EARTH and even I could not find any redeeming qualities to it. Shyamalan's THE HAPPENNING and LADY IN THE WATER, hell even THE LAST AIRBENDER, all had at least one or two cool moments. AFTER EARTH is devoid of absolutely any quality. So, maybe it isn't fair to mock something this bad, but the way the narrator ends this clip makes it all worth it.

I am not sure exactly how Shyamalan will recover from AFTER EARTH or even if Will Smith can do it, despite Smith having a lot more positives in his past than negatives. Here's hoping that this is a blip on his career radar. There is always BAD BOYS 3.

I haven't seen a Shyamalan movie since Unbreakable - really enjoyed that...or perhaps it was just the payoff at the end. I saw Sixth Sense...and it was good...nothing more. Kinda funny...the praise he used to get...and now it's very uncool to say something positive about him. Of course, he's not the only one to get such treatment. Singer and Cage spring to mind immediately and more recently Renner. I swear Levitt seemed to be going the same way...but that seems to have quietened down.

Were they simply one hit wonders...who had no longevity...or did we overrate them....or did they simply not die heroes but lived long enough to produce enough poor work to become loathed?

"Take a knee"
Yeah, no one revised the script. The direction looks as flat as Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever and it's sad to see Will Smith look bored.

Hahaha, this is the best Honest Trailer. I rented the movie and only endured for about 30 minutes and couldn't watch it anymore. It's bad.

I was going to watch After Earth in the next few days, but this honest trailer just made that a non-reality. I have somehow managed to watch every M. Night movie there is but after the last 2 I just can't bring myself to go through the pain and agony again. I think it hurts so much because he somehow made 2.5 amazing films, then he went all M.Night Shyamalan on us.

Who would thumb you down for that? No one can stand Smith anymore, mostly for shoving his annoying family down our throats.

I really didn't want to spend another 3 minutes on ANYTHING related to After Earth, even if it's a parody, but I decided to anyway and it was worth it. Best Honest Trailer yet.

And I hope Shymalan never makes another movie ever again. Prick.

This reminds me of MacArthur Park, the song Richard Harris sang. It's so ridiculous that it's the only song Weird Al Yankovic has spoofed where his version could not be funnier than the original. It seems like Honest Trailers has found the equivalent of that for movies.

This movie could have been something

I didn't hate this film as much as everyone else, but it is no where a good film at all. The premise is actually very cool about how Earth has developed defenses against mankind and we had to leave then to drop the main character on this foreign planet. In the right hands it could have worked but you feel that M. Night is so worried about succumbing to action Sci-fi cliches that he doesn't take a risk at all. All you are left with is a lifeless film with a main actor who can't carry a

Anyone here remember when Shyamalan was considered a filmmaking god? When fanboys worshiped him similar to how they now worship Christopher Nolan? When saying even the slightest negative thing about Shyamalan was met with massive nerd rage?

I never saw him like that. I didn't like "Unbreakable", outside of the ending, like everyone else did. I actually thought "The Village" was his best film overall. (yes, that includes Sixth sense). I loved the idea how no matter how hard people try to create the perfect utopia, evil will always slip through. Everything else he has made was ok to terrible. Nolan on the other hand has a pretty good track record even though his praise is SLIGHTLY overdone and this is coming from a dude

I think he went down hill after The Village. I didn't even finish After Earth. Will Smith's son annoyed me too much that I stopped the movie.
