Cool Videos: Impressive fan-made opening title sequence to Zack Snyder's Man of Steel

Apr. 25, 2013by: Paul Shirey

We're just under two months away from the premiere of Zack Snyder's MAN OF STEEL, so there isn't much to go on in terms of what the opening titles will look like for the film, but the folks at willandtale have created their own fan-made title sequence, which is quite impressive. Starting with the arrival of Kal-El via spacecraft to his childhood and then early sightings, the sequence serves almost like a Cliff's Notes version of Superman's origin, much like Marvel did with opening of THE INCREDIBLE HULK. Really, had Warner Bros. gone another route, they easily could've done a title sequence origin for ol' Supes as just about everyone in the world is famiiar with his origin and this demonstrates a pretty solid way to go. Maybe for the sequel?

Enjoy:

MAN OF STEEL takes to the skies on June 14, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: What recent title sequence most impressed you? Although full of exposition, I thought Oblivion's was a solid intro to the film.

This was pretty great. Kudos to the people who made this. If Man of Steel's opening credits were like this, I would be quite pleased.

Great opening for the Man of Steel TV show. Wouldn't want a movie opening with these titles.

Watchmen is the holy grail of opening credits sequences. Despite how you feel about the rest of the movie, I think most tend to agree that part was absolutely inspired.

How did I forget about those! I completely agree with you about how much I loved that. Actually come to think of it, the title sequences in all of Zach Snyder's films have been pretty great, I expect no less from this film!

You can say whatever you want about Spider-Man 3, but sometimes I just want to watch the movie for the great creativity with the main titles. The way it teased the audience with what was about to come, introducing the score of the villains with the past movies scenes intercut. It sent me shivers the first time I saw it. I must say The Amazing Spider-Man main title left me disappointed as much as I have tried to find them likable.

Snyder movies are great, but I don't buy the idea that Nolan is barely involved in this. If you watch the trailer a few times you can see Nolan's touch all over the movie, in fact, that's the main reason why all of us are excited. Snyder-Nolan can be a match made in heaven.

But Snyder is famous for his opening credits.

Nolan said that he isn't really involved in this movie. The production for this movie took place while Nolan was finishing up TDKR. And Nolan said that he is taking his vacation during this entire film's post production. Like it or not, this film is Snyder's, not Nolan's.

Fan Made, FAN MADE?!?
What a great opening especially for a film that is set up to define a word of superheroes.
Is it me or did the blurry picture of the hero that caught the guy falling from the building look like he has wings?

That was really cool. I kinda miss when every movie had opening credits. Pistolas is right that Nolan's films don't have opening sequences - then again, Bob Loblaw has a good point in that Snyder loves them, and Watchmen, Sucker Punch (even if that film was meh) and others had very cool-looking title sequences - and this is Zack Snyder's movie after all. I know the thinking is that by going straight into the action, a title sequence won't take the audience out of the experience, but there is

I know the thinking is that by going straight into the action, a title sequence won't take the audience out of the experience, but there is something nice about the tradition of opening credits. That, and how iconic the opening credits were to Donner's '78 Superman film.

@Bob Loblaw

Stop being such a negative dweeb. It's fan made. What do you want? It's very well done for what it is.

Yeah I have to agree. This was pretty cool. And yes Watchmen's opening credits were one of the best I've seen. Pretty much loved all of Snyder's movies......errr Sucker Punch not so much but everything else definitely. Can't wait to see what he does with dear old Supes.

Had to add that the visuals in Sucker Punch were awesome but the story was a let down.
