Cool Videos: Jim Carrey stars in Black Swan

Jan. 10, 2011by: Mike Sampson

Jim Carrey's first appearance on "Saturday Night Live" since 1996 should've provided the show a lift during this struggling season but those looking for big laughs were left disappointed. Carrey gave it his all but sadly SNL didn't give him much to work with. The only sketches that really worked were a bizarre "Amusement Park Ride" sketch (that was probably creepier than funny) and the BLACK SWAN sketch that you can see below.

It's basically something of a rehash of Jim's popular Vera De Milo character from "In Living Color" as the Mila Kunis role in BLACK SWAN. It's worth it just to see Carrey cram his entire fist in his mouth. Take a watch below and see if Carrey's ready to make a big comedic comeback...

Extra Tidbit: Judd Apatow helped Carrey write and develop the Vera de Milo character.

I love how

SNL is perpetually 'in a slump' no matter how good or bad the season is. The past few years have been some of the SNL's more popular in some time, and every season supplies winners and losers. Frankly I think it was Carrey's challenge to surprise an audience that's been accustomed to his abilities for over a decade. The show on the whole was OK at least.

I think it's time for Carrey to stick his feet back into comedy. And by that I don't mean children's comedy movies.

Mildly amusing ... Carrey is so much better than the material they give him when he guests on SNL.

Carrey definitely brought the goods when he hosted. He elevated every sketch.
