COOL VIDEOS: Our tribute to the work of director Tony Scott

Sep. 4, 2012by:

Our very own Nick Bosworth put together this outstanding tribute video for the film's of the late director, Tony Scott, which takes you on a journey of his signature moments, while highlighting many of the iconic scenes that cemented him as a filmmaker to be reckoned with.  The hazy carnage of crashing cars, the blaze of glory shootouts, and the emotional embrace of his films are chopped together with grace and style, featuring various pieces of music from his many films.

There's been a healthy number of Tony Scott tributes flooding in, but as a tremendous fan of his work, I have to say that this is a truly encompassing piece of work that the director himself would be proud of.  Take a few minutes to kick back and soak up some Tony Scott goodness.  You'll be glad you did.

So cool:

Extra Tidbit: Hans Zimmer and Harry Gregson-Williams were Tony Scott's go-to composers throughout his career, producing some of the best action compositions ever made, including: Days of Thunder, Crimson Tide, True Romance, Spy Game, Deja Vu, etc. If you're ever looking for some great action music, look no further than the films of Tony Scott.

Tremendous!!!

I have chills, tears, and the shakes watching this amazing video. I couldn't even begin to have a top five list because I can watch anyone of his films anytime and still be so drawn from Unstoppable to Top Gun...he just had this mesmerizing style that will never be duplicated. I feel, like I am sure many other fans of Mr. Scott who feel like they lost someone close to them because of all the special moments he brought to us over the years through his films. Most of my lifetime on this Earth has been during his tenure of filmaking and a big part of me now feels lost and sad to know we will never get another from the "Great" Scott. Yet we should be thankful for the memories we did get and will still have in something as simple as pressing the play button.

Outstanding video boys, very classy and really made my week...

Thanks so much for that, pretty cool! Still can't grasp the idea Tony is no more. What an inspiration.
Still working on my own tribute video. While this video is about all movie moments in general, there are some of Tony as well obviously: [link]

That was beautiful. Particularly liked the signature cap on JoBlo and the early footage.

Funnily enough, I hadn't thought till now how he liked those Mexican Standoffs, True Romance, Enemy of the State, and Domino all showcase that really well.

I finally got down to watching The Last Boy Scout and WOW - I was blown away! It is one of the very best action films I've ever seen, jaunty, pacey, exciting and really funny, in addition to being suitably violent and dark. Willis was perfect as Joe, exactly the right guy for the job, and Wayans completely surprised me with how good his emotional scenes (Jimmy struggling with his drug habit) were. The action sequences were amazing, that opening sequence and the climax at the Coliseum really got

The action sequences were amazing, that opening sequence and the climax at the Coliseum really got the heart pumping, and Tony Scott's wonderful style and expert eye brought it all together. It was bittersweet watching this one because while I was having such a great time, there was also that tinge of sadness that we have all lost a truly great directing talent. RIP Tony Scott, you really were so cool. :"( [link]

A wonderful look back, thanks for the memories

Who doesn't remember the first time they saw "Top Gun" or there first Tony Scott film for that matter? Can't wait to see "Top Gun" for it's 3D re-release in theaters, it will be a sad but glorious remembrance of a unique artist.
