Cool Videos: Rings antagonist, Samara, pranks electronic store costumers

Do you remember that time that the Silvia Santos Program, in promotion stunt for the release of THE CURSE OF CHUCKY, set up a few hidden cameras at a bus stop in Brazil and terrorized a series of innocent bystanders? Well, it looks as if Paramount Pictures is doing something similar in preparation for their upcoming horror film RINGS.

In what is surely a cruel but hilarious prank, Paramount staged a frightening gag inside the electronics retailer, PRISCO, where without warning, a actor dressed as the film’s horrifying antagonist, Samara, attacked local patrons. The unwitting victims reactions ranged from stunned silence to audible terror, as they ran from the store.

It’s all very clever and quite humorous. But you don’t have to take my word for it. Check out the video below and laugh along as these unfortunate souls realize that once Samara has you in her sights, there is no escape.

As you may already know, RINGS is “a new chapter in the beloved RING horror franchise. A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before…

Directed by F. Javier Gutierrez, and starring Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio, RINGS will creep into theaters on February 3, 2017.
