Cool Videos: Screen Junkies' honest trailers takes a trip to Middle-Earth!

Dec. 13, 2012by: Paul Shirey

With THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY going on walkabout this week, the fine folks at Screen Junkies have taken it upon themselves to deliver yet another wondrous and brutal Honest Trailer, this time for THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, tackling most of the gripes fans have had from the get-go. I love THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, but even I can have a good laugh at some of its goofiness.

I think the main takeaway from any of these "honest trailers" is just to laugh and not take it too seriously. It's all in good fun. Even if some of the "honesty" portrayed can sting a big.

Enjoy:

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY opens this week in 2D, 3D, IMAX, and 48 fps. Choose wisely.

One of the best

It's okay to like a movie and still laugh at criticisms. Especially legitimate ones.

"Gwyneth Paltrow"

Wow, ANOTHER Lord of the Rings homoerotic joke? I thought those stopped being original in 2004.

I don't find it as funny as the others. It just feels too forced. I liked the Brokeback Mount Doom joke and the Sean Bean montage is nice, but the rest of the jokes just fall flat. Yes there is a lot of walking and there are a lot of names, but that's because the book is just walking, songs and up until the last page introductions of new characters.

This trailer is 100% accurate and it could have gone on for another 10 minutes. Yeah the films are exceptional in many regards but still filled with plot issues, pacing, etc. Far from perfect.
