Today, Nerdist debuted the new trailer for DC's next animated feature, SUPERMAN UNBOUND, which is based on the 2008 run by Geoff Johns and artist Gary Frank. Featuring the voice talents of Matt Bomer (as Supes), John Noble (Brainiac), Stana Katic, and Molly Quinn (Lois/Kara), the animated feature looks to be another solid adaptation from the now-dead DC premiere animators and will likely feature more action than all of the SUPERMAN films combined thus far.  It's kind of sad that the animated films are the only venue we've seen Superman really kick some ass.

Fingers crossed that this summer's MAN OF STEEL will change all that.  Until then, check out your favorite Kryptonian doing all things super in this trailer.

Here's the synopsis:

Superman Unbound, based on Geoff Johns' 2008 Action Comics story arc, finds the Man of Steel squaring off against the planet-destroying alien machine, Brainiac, while balancing his responsibilities to Lois Lane and cousin Kara (Supergirl). The voice cast includes White Collar's Matt Bomer as Superman, Fringe's John Noble as Brainiac and Castle's Stana Katic and Molly Quinn as Lois and Kara, respectively.

SUPERMAN UNBOUND will premiere at Wondercon this Spring and roll out on Blu-ray/DVD shortly thereafter.

Looks great. Matt Bomer would have made a great Superman. He is also my top choice for Batman for Justice League.

While I totally get JimmyArrow's point of view about missing the uniformity that came with the established DCAU, I like that each animated movie these days brings something different to the table, and that we've gotten to see and hear so many different takes on the characters. Matt Bomer sounds like a decent Superman and I like the idea of John Noble voicing Brainiac. I wouldn't have thought of that.

I kind of miss the uniformity that DC animations use to have with the Timm/Dini model. Every new movie comes with new cast and new art, which is hard to get used to.

Now you have two "Castle" cast members voicing, though not the first time since Stana voiced Talia Al Ghul in the Arkham City game.

Looks like another hit from DC animation, kinda upset that they changed the look of Supes being that he was drawn after Reeves. Can't wait for Flashpoint later this year.

Tidbit - Superman/Batman Apocalypse, great film and loved the battle with Darkseid on the Kent farm

Very cool. .Bomer gets to play Superman afterall. Considering Bomer got to voice Supes, Nathan Fillion got to voice Hal Jordan, and Tom Jane got to voice Jonah Hex, I'm guessing Andrea Romano is paying very close attention to fans, especially the fans who happen to be actors lobbying for roles.
