Cool Videos: Transformers 3 - Master Class Trailer

06.27.2011

Just in case you thought TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON wasn't getting enough promotion around here, in comes the awesome Garrison Dean with yet another badass unofficial movie trailer that puts the spotlight on the real star of this summer's robot extravaganza: MICHAEL BAY.

Can cinematic spectacle be art unto itself? If so, then are guys like Michael Bay and Terrence Malick on opposite ends of the very same spectrum?

Thanks to "Paul" for the heads up!

Extra Tidbit: "‘Dark of the Moon’ has some of the most technically challenging sequences ever shot. And shot in 3D. I must urge you to find the very best theatre and see this movie in that format. 3D was a forethought, not an afterthought in this movie. I’m glad Jim Cameron and Steven Spielberg really convinced me to shoot in this new technology." -- Michael Bay

That was pretty awesome. I suppose it really does sell the idea of this movie. But can it overcome its stigma? The first film was decent entertainment, while the second film was pretty much crap. Still, good video. It really drives home the point of, well, watching most movies in general. The only question is, will the film contain the amount of awesome this video tries to push.

Get over it...

People need to grow up and stick by what they are saying. Critics rightfully have a laundry list full of bad things to say about these kinds of films. If all you really care about is switching your brain off and enjoying the pretty colors then do it proudly and stop trying to defend it. All you are doing is looking for validation from people who have no reason to justify any of your opinions because you are trying to do it under their terms and bringing nothing to the table. Trying to turn

Trying to turn the heat back on the 'snobs' is missing the point entirely. If their way of looking at things is too 'high and mighty' for you then stop trying to change their minds and just enjoy the freakin movie like you say you have been. But then don't start bitching once the people who are judging the film on it's artistic merit rip it apart.

The Terrence Malick comparison...

...is interesting, because I was thinking they had a bit in common. Both focus on imagery over narrative. The difference is just that their imagery is aimed at two very different parts of the brain. Also, this proves all trailers are better with metal.

That was a very cool video, and really well edited. It also basically sums up the argument for the side of the fence I stand on.
