Cool Videos: Troy Baker from Batman: Arkham Origins recites a monologue from The Killing Joke

100%

The video game Batman: Arkahm Origins looks great, but it has one thing missing: Mark Hamill. The actor said Batman: Arkham City would be his last time voicing the Joker, so someone else had to be brought in for the latest Batman game. Enter Troy Baker, who some of you might recognize as the voice of Hawkeye and Loki on television's Avengers Assemble.

Baker was at the Batman: Arkham Origins panel at the New York Comic-Con, and treated the audience with a reading of one of the Joker's monologues from Alan Moore's classic graphic novel, The Killing Joke. He's no Mark Hamill, but he still does a great job and I loved hearing the disturbing monologue from the comic brought to life with Baker's voice. Enjoy.

"Madness is the emergency exit."

Extra Tidbit: I would love to see an animated movie version of The Killing Joke like Warner Bros. did for BATMAN: YEAR ONE and BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS.

He nailed Hamill's Joker.

If they made him do Hamill's Joker-voice, then Baker did a dynamite job.

I'm pretty optimistic for Arkham Origins. At first, I thought the change in developer, creative team and core voice cast might spell doom, but I think they have an idea of what they're doing. I actually like the character designs a mite more than those for Arkham Asylum and City. Troy Baker is an absolute charmer and I think he'll do really well as the Joker. Of course, everyone goes on about how Mark Hamill has left enormous shoes to fill and it will be hard for anyone to replace him as the

Of course, everyone goes on about how Mark Hamill has left enormous shoes to fill and it will be hard for anyone to replace him as the definitive Joker voice, but that absolutely does not mean nobody else can try. A lot of people who attempt Joker voices sometimes tinge them with a hint of a British accent and I can hear that here, but it's not terribly distracting and is an extremely valiant effort. I'm kinda jealous because both Troy and Roger purposely restrained themselves from doing the voices at the San Diego Comic Con panel for this game.

Not as bone-chilling as Hamill's take, but a pretty decent impression. I'm looking forward to the game, despite the fact that both Conroy and Hamill aren't in it

Hamill can't do the Joker voice anymore because he will be playing Luke for the next few years

Great voice. He doesn't quite have the energy and bi-polar emotion of Hamill's, but still a damn solid imitation.
