Cool Videos: Would you like to see a live action Nightwing series? Kickstart it!

Dec. 7, 2012by: Alex Maidy

Kickstarter is a great tool for filmmakers because it gives fans the opportunity to support projects that would otherwise not make it to theaters, television, or major websites. This NIGHTWING series is a prime example of that.

Fans and filmmakers Danny Shepherd and Jeremy Le released a NIGHTWING short film earlier this year and got almost a million hits. From that support, they decided to venture out to make the DC hero his very own series.

For those of you who don't know, Nightwing is the name adopted by former Robin, Dick Grayson. He sets off on his own adventures that focus on his acrobatic talents. While not exactly a major superhero, Nightwing is definitely an interesting one. With shows like BIRDS OF PREY, SMALLVILLE, and now ARROW taking darker looks at DC stories that would not quite fit on the big screen, NIGHTWING seems an easy choice.

So, check out both the fan film and the teaser below and if you want to see this a reality, head on over to Kickstarter and help these guys out!

More Power To Ya

Yes, we all want to see our heroes in the best costumes and in great stories, with the most realistic gritty cinematic film work. Danny Shepherd and Jeremy Le are working their asses off to give all you haters out there something no one else is. From my vantage point, they are doing very good work, striving to up the ante with an even higher level of production value. Coming from someone in film/media, THIS SHIT IS HARD WORK!! Stop hating and throw a few bucks to these guys. Keep on rock'n

Bludhaven

the series premise should be Dick grayson having one final mission with bats which would lead to him leaving gotham and beginning his journey and preparation to becoome nightwing.but it should be a slow process, dont put him in the costume right away, build up to it.it can be done but it has to be done right.

You know guys, the scene on the bottom video was something we did for fun with just us two back in July. But from that video's popularity, we decided to make a mini-series. We have both learned a lot more on fight choreography and storytelling since then and have also enlisted the help of a professional studio. We now have a much bigger crew of professionals who will be helping us out. The teaser was the result and is only the beginning. We are out to make the series mindblowing and the best it

Not the greatest but its ok, def. like oracle, she's cute so there's a positive. I'm still holding out hope that one day we will get to see Nightwing done on film, for now I'll continue to enjoy him on young justice.

The trailer looked really cool,

but the actual scene was not good at all. I think you should leave it to the pros, boys.

NIce try? They did a lot of things fans have always wanted like the white lenses but then we realize stylistic choices like that only work in the world of animation. Also they need to work on the fight choreography. That guy has obviously never taken an acrobatics class in his life.

Nothing new

When Smallville was in its final season there was talk of a Grayson pilot. The story was that an acrobat would lose his parents and presumably become Nightwing although if they followed the example of Smallville he would never wear a costume and never call himself Nightwing or even Robin. That idea got scrapped. Then it was announced that they were going to do a Raven pilot instead. The story was that an acrobat would lose his parents and presumably become Nightwing although if they followed the example of Smallville he would never wear a costume and never call himself Nightwing or even Robin. That idea got scrapped. Then it was announced that they were going to do a Raven pilot instead. Raven is a character from the Teen Titans and they were going to have her be in a big city high school so it would have been like Smallville meets 90210. That also got scrapped. Then it the last season of Smallville they introduced Conner Kent, a clone of Lex Luthor who had the powers of Superman and who saw Lex and Clark as his parents. (Seriously. It's from the comics.) The Conner Kent episode ended with Conner Kent moving into the farm and enrolling in Smallville High. There was speculation that they were going to decide to simply continue Smallville with Conner instead of Clark but that didn't happen. Instead they gave Green Arrow his own show with a new actor and a rebooted storyline. That appears to be a hit by CW standards so there's also a Wonder Woman series (called Amazon) in the works.

Anyway, there's a Justice League movie coming out in 2015. They probably won't use the same actors from the TV shows in the movies which is okay because neither Tom Welling nor Brandon Routh are going to be Superman anymore. So, just as was the case with the Hulk, we will have had three actors playing Superman and three actors playing Green Arrow in less than a decade. We're also not going to see Christian Bale return as Batman. I wouldn't be surprised then if we also get a Flash TV show with a different actor in the movies. I think Ryan Reynolds will return as Green Lantern though: the fact that Green Lantern wasn't a success actually works in the studio's favour because Reynolds won't expect a multimillion dollar paycheck: if he asks for one then they'll just recast the role.

FX, costumes and editing were pretty good for a no budget production. But the cast looked like coming straight from Jersey Shore.

Warner won't do it. Trust me I tried lol

And my pitch was [link] beyond what they've done here. I hit every mark and kept it progressive for a cable audience. Nope. Not even a wink or a pat on the ass. Not happening.

Man I tried.

If something goes through I'd be awfully damned surprised and it won't be that featured above.

I should upload the pitch doc.
