Costner’s Daughter

God (don’t quote me on this, but) I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a Kevin Costner film since TIN CUP and that was over 10 years ago. Still, based on how much I love that film, I’m going to continue to support the guy, no matter how many times he goes swimming with Ashton Kutcher, or dresses up as Elvis. Today it’s announced that his next film role is to be in the thriller THE NEW DAUGHTER for Spanish director Luiso Berdejo (REC). Things aren’t looking good for ol’ Kev though, with the movie sounding awful cookie-cutter-esque; Costner will play John James, a single father who moves to a farm with his two kids after a painful divorce. Soon, his daughter (Ivana Baquero) starts behaving ominously, and Dad begins to suspect that the burial mound in a nearby field might have something to do with it. This plot has the tried and tested, shot from his side, ‘Kev opens a cupboard and then when he closes it, something scary is standing there’ scene written all over it, right? Costner will be seen next in SWING VOTE with Dennis Hopper.
