Could fan favorite series Jericho get a second life on Netflix?

Feb. 7, 2013by: Alex Maidy

I will preface this story by saying I have not ever seen an episode of JERICHO, partly because I avoid anything broadcast on CBS since I am under the age of 50. With that being said, the fandom behind the series seems to rival that of Joss Whedon's FIREFLY and BUFFY contingent. When the show was initially cancelled after one season, fans banded together and shipped 20 tons of nuts to CBS who eventually brought the show back for a short second season only to cancel it a second time.

Like BUFFY, JERICHO has benefited from active fans online which has led to two "seasons" in comic book form and the lingering hope for a big screen version of the post-apocalyptic serial. But, the next life for JERICHO may end up on the small screen again, thanks to Netflix.

At the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, JERICHO creator Stephen Chbosky had this to say:

You know WME (William Morris Endeavor) Agency, who represents me, Jon Turteltaub and many other people, and theyve been talking to Netflix and you never know. I cant say what it will be in season three, but Im excited for the new developments... Well, if you really, really want to know about season three, the best thing would be to read the comics. That tells a better story.

So, there you have it JERICHO fans. There is still a chance that Netflix could bring back another series like they have with ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. It doesn't sound like Chbosky knows if a Netflix season would adapt the already created comics that pick up the story or an entirely new set of stories. Either way, the on demand world seems to be gaining momentum.

Jericho was great, and SERIALIZED... not typical CBS garbage

Jericho's best comparable is The Walking Dead, and while the former doesn't have gore or zombies, it's actually way more exciting...

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I don't think that one's likely at all, considering the projects that the cast members are involved in now, but that's the last sci fi show that I really got into. The first season was pretty good, but the second one stepped things up tremendously and was ridiculously good by mid-season. Yet another show that ended with a very obvious setup for a third season that never materialized.

FUCK YES

this is old news though they been talking about this for years now. And this show was amazing me and my dad used to watch it all the time. so please bring it back :) bring back the event, flashforward, seven days, but I really want to see netflix bring back Trauma, maybe even the river. Anything that was actually amazing that was short lived.

Since we are already getting Arrested Development back... my ultimate wish has been granted. Aside from that... how about a blast from the past? Herman's Head!!!!

Without a doubt Terriers. A true shame that we never got a second season after a terrific first season with great characters and stories.

Also, Party Down was another great show that I wish never got cancelled.

I Was Surprised...

... by how much I enjoyed the show. I thought the premise was interesting so I checked it out. The show turned out to be good. But, it got shuffled around a bit by CBS, so I didn't get to see the whole first season. Which meant I couldn't watch the 2nd season when CBS continued the series. Yet, when it debuted on Netflix Streaming, I got to see the whole series. And it was pretty damn good. As lordviscius stated, the show ended with a setup for a third season so continuing the story wouldn't be

Terriers without a doubt. That show was so underrated and deserved more than it got.
Also, Party Down. One of my favorite comedies.

Interesting. It's been a very long time since I watched the show, but I remember really liking it. It's unlike anything else on CBS (not a boring as hell procedural cop/doctor/lawyer show). It didn't fit with the rest of the network at all. I'll have to go back and re-watch the series now and check out the comic continuations of it.
