Could these Oldboy set photos have revealed that something totally crazy is going on in this remake?
I think. I'm don't actually know what I'm looking at here. The Daily Mail made a big deal about the fake tattoo snaking down Elizabeth Olsen's arm, but I'm frankly much more interested in something else. Something more along the lines of whatever that is lurking behind Josh Brolin that makes me immediately lean in for a closer look even as I desperately want to recoil in fear as I think "what in the f**k is that and what in the f**k is it doing and it's creepy and WHAT."
To start things off slowly, here's Elizabeth Olsen and her tattoo. She's pretty, the ink is fake, yadda yadda.
Done with that? Fantastic. So here we go. Here's the... I still don't know what it is. Here's the thing. The "what the f**k" thing. It has legs and a face and everything. Anyone out there a reader of the original manga and can enlighten me as to whether this is something the original film elected to leave out or if its a new creation specifically for the Spike Lee remake?
And, perhaps more importantly, does anyone out there have any idea what it is?
Regarding the Halloween claims made below: perhaps you're right and this is just a picture of an overzealous crew member. But 1) the pictures were run on the 2nd of November, and I can't see why someone at The Daily Mail would just wait around to post the pictures if they were snapped on Halloween. And 2) maybe this is just the conspiracy theorist in me talking, but the above makeup seems awfully intricate even for a makeup team-member's holiday getup for a day of shooting on/around Halloween. Maybe it really is nothing, but it also could be something and I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.
