Could this pop star be joining the X-Men universe?

While X-MEN: APOCALYPSE may be the biggest X-Men film to date, 20th Century Fox has some big plans in store from the franchise, of which APOCALYPSE is only the beginning. The third solo Wolverine flick is in production, and Fox is adamant(ium) that Channing Tatum's Gambit is still a thing. There's also THE NEW MUTANTS which is coming our way from writer/director Josh Boone (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS) of which both Games of Thrones' Maisie Williams and Alexandra Shipp (Storm in APOCALYPSE) are rumored to be taking part in. So what else could Fox have up their sleeve? Taylor Swift.

You may be scratching your head, but let me point out that this is pure speculation on my part. There happen to be two dots out there and I'm going to connect them, regardless of whether or not they belong together. So let's get to it! First up is an Instagram picture posted by Sophie Turner. Here you can see Jean Grey and Tye Sheridan's Cyclops in a record store. Take note of the record Cyclops is holding. Also, take note of who's tagged on the album cover.

Now, I wouldn't blame you if the name Dazzler doesn't conjure up anything, but that character is actually a mutant with the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams. A mutant who becomes a pop star? Why not?!? Now, that may just be an Easter egg and that's all there is to it, but let me direct your attention to this picture from Taylor Swift's Instagram account. That's Swift standing next to writer/producer Simon Kinberg, James McAvoy and Sophie Turner.

So what does it all mean? It could be nothing. It's certainly not uncommon for celebrities to interact, hang out, and just check up on what they're doing. I do love the idea of Prof. X being a Taylor Swift fan...However, if Dazzler is to make her appearance in an X-Men flick down the road, Fox would do well by hiring an ACTUAL pop star. Her acting may be called into question but there's no doubts that she can deliver on the musical front. So do you think there's anything to these two pictures or are we reading too much into it?

X-MEN APOCALYPSE opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.

I like the top photo, great Easter egg for X fans, but to actually put Dazzler in a movie is pointless to me.

As an avid vinyl collector, I would love to have a copy of 'Dazzler - Sounds Of Light And Fury' in my collection. Unfortunately, the album doesn't exist (believe me, I searched high and low for it).

Well, she certainly has the right look but I doubt in her acting ability.

Stop putting models and singers into movies. Get actual actors/actresses!

Bo Derek was in talks to star in a Dazzler movie back in 1979 but she wanted her husband to direct.

Meanwhile it turns out the Maisie Williams rumor was an April Fool's joke.

I don't see this effecting majority of the film. If she is in it, she'll probably pop up for a hot second doing some sort 80's pop song nod in the background and that's it. Nothing more.

That picture's cool, but...

Remember when cameos and easter eggs were things that were caught by eagle-eyed viewers upon actually seeing the movie rather than being telegraphed in the promotional material? That was a thing once, right?

If Taylor Swift shows up in an X-Men movie, I'm done with the franchise. I dislike her personality, music and attitude THAT much. Fox won't care, they won't miss my money anyway.

I love dazzler and was a bit confused as to why she wouldn't be in apocalypse given the era it's set in. But Taylor would be a poor choice for anything more than a brief cameo. Hope it's not true.

This isn't a musical

Even though Dazzler is a pop star, it's doubtful we would hear more than one song of her in the film, and it probably wouldn't even be a full song. If the part is more than a cameo, you need someone who can act first, and who can sing second.

I am in no way commenting on whether or not Swift is that person. I have no idea how good she is.

If she was younger, Holly Valancewould be a better choice. Just saying.

I'm guessing she has a cameo in this film as Dazzler

Then based on how well her role goes over, she might have a bigger role in the sequel (also depending on when the sequel is set, with them taking so much care in building up their team of younger heroes I'd imagine we'll get a couple of more 80's set films).

You missed the biggest hint...

The fact that Sophie's picture has the parentheses (pre 1989, of course) which, unless you've been living under a rock, you would know is the title of Taylor Swifts most recent album.

She has acted a few times but she hasn't really been given an opportunity to prove her skills. I'd give her shot. It's much better than hiring her to sing the theme song. Oh, and I'm not saying her music is bad (far from it), but it wouldn't really fit in a movie like this.

TS Would Want Too...

Much money and screen time for her character. There are lots of really good actresses with good singing voices that could do the job and not be a PITA to work with. The only upside to putting Taylor Swift in an X-Men movie is that it would draw a lot of her rabid fans into theaters and add to Fox's coffers.
