Cowboys for Favreau?

In 2007, we got news that Dreamworks and Universal were bringing COWBOYS & ALIENS to the big screen. Now it looks like Jon Favreau might be wanting to get in on the action.

Favreau’s pal Robert Downey Jr. has been attached to the project for awhile so looks like the two might be spending more time together. The two make a great team, so whatever they want to work on is fine by me. The premise of COWBOYS actually sounds really fun, it’s adapted from the comic book of the same name. Basically aliens land in Arizona in the 1800’s. The aliens then decide to take over the wild west and enslave humanity. Well obviously the cowboys aren’t going to take that shit so they enlist their Apache rivals to stop the aliens.

Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are producing with Steven Spielberg, Platinum Studios CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci. Also if you are a fan of Damon Lindelof, he is writing the script along with Kurtzman and Orci. I really think this could shape up to be something really awesome if Favs joins the lineup.

Looks like another comic to add to my list. COWBOYS should start filming in Summer 2010.
