It's been a strong couple of years for horror on television, and one of the biggest surprises was A&E's Bates Motel. The second season doesn't start until next year, but a new teaser trailer has already been released featuring creepy old timey music, sewing materials, and human teeth just hanging out on a table, so watching the teaser is pretty much the same as visiting your grandmother. I haven't seen the first season, but it's on my list of things to check out and hopefully I'll get to watch it before the new season starts.

Take a look:

Bates Motel stars Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore, and the new season will air sometime in 2014.

Extra Tidbit: Out of all the current horror dramas on television, which one do you think is the best?

In the middle of season 1 right now. Really like the tone of the show and how they're really making it true to the original. I like how they show things that could lead up to the way Norman ends up, without do an obvious "Stooges" wink to the audience. Simple things like taxidermy. Also, for this show to end good, whenever that may be, they need to kill off his mother at some point, but not let the audience know. Then Norman can still be seeing her. SPOILERS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN"T SEEN THE MOVIE...(which is probably the most ridiculous thing if you haven't or don't know how it ends, but... The last shot of the show needs to be him wearing the wig, hearing a horn outside, going to the window, flipping on the light, then the camera cuts to outside and zooms out slowly, showing us a woman in the parking lot looking for a room. It should end zooming when it's the same shot as the movie.

Hannibal is King

Bates is a close 2nd I don't know if Sleepy Hollow counts as horror but it's finding it's groove, and I won't even acknowledge American Horror Story that's like the Prometheus of TV, looks great but adds up to a whole lot of nonsense. Looking forward to see what Daniel Knauf does with Dracula, and how Penny Dreadful pans out.

Funny about your two favorites, they're both based on the same guy.

was he making a model of the hotel from the teacher he killed? CREEPY! At one point it looked like he was cutting hair from her severed head! Norman has definitely turned a corner in this season. Only thing that doesn't seem to jive with the movies, is in the movies didn't he start killing people after his mother was dead?

Extra Tidbit

I would be hard-pressed to pick between "Hannibal", "Bates Motel" and "American Horror Story". Vera Farmiga and Jessica Lange are so incredible on both of the latter shows, as are Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen on "Hannibal". They're the perfect triumvirate of television horror.

Creepy, effective teaser.

I LOVE this show. It has easily become one of my favorite shows since last year and is one of my must watch television shows from week to week. Can't wait for season two.

And did the teaser remind anyone else of Texas Chainsaw Massacre with a mix of Jeepers Creepers?
