Cronenberg casts three | Movie News
Thank Facebook and its status updates - The lovely Keira Knightley and INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS alums Christoph Waltz and Michael Fassbender will be joining each other in a Cronenbergian three-way for THE TALKING CURE.
Here's the synopsis from Australian film distributor Hopscotch Films (TYSON, THE WRESTLER): "A beautiful young woman, driven mad by her past. An ambitious doctor on a mission to succeed. An esteemed mentor with a revolutionary cure. Let the mind games begin..."
The film, which director David Cronenberg has been attached to since 2007, is an adaptation of the play by Christopher Hampton about the complicated relationship psychoanalysts Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud developed with a brilliant and beautiful patient named Sabina Spielrein. Presumably, Knightley will be playing Spielrein, and if I would venture a guess, I'd say Waltz would be up for Freud and Fassbender for Jung. Don't quote me on that, though.
Cronenberg was previously attached to an adaptation of Robert Ludlum's THE MATARESE CIRCLE, but that fell through when Tom Cruise exited to go be funny in KNIGHT & DAY.

Extra Tidbit: Don DeLillo's "Cosmopolis" is another one of the Canadian director's attachments where the majority of action takes place inside a limo and, according to Wikipedia, includes highly sexed women and the theme of father-son separation.
