Damn Jim and Jake

I know most of you have been sitting at home for the last 15 years or so, pondering the same, all important, earth shattering question that I have. Can Jake Gyllenhaal and Jim Carrey sing? Fear not fellow friends, for we may soon have our answer.

New Line Cinema is in negotiations with the two leading men to star in DAMN YANKEES, a remake of the classic Broadway musical of the same name. The musical, which won seven Tony Awards revolves around Joe Boyd, a happily married man whose devotion to a pathetic baseball team leads him to make a deal with the devil in order to help the team. He's transformed into slugger Joe Hardy, in exchange for Boyd's soul. Boyd can break the deal, but the deadline occurs during the World Series. Carrey is tapped to play Satan (YES!) and Gyllenhaal the doomed slugger.

Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel are set to write the script, which will see two of our favorite actors stretch their vocal chords in an attempt to modernize a musical that to many, feels dated. Best of luck gentlemen, it won't be easy.
