Damon Lindelof, Jason Blum team for a political thriller entitled The Hunt

Given today's tumultuous political climate, now feels like the perfect time for LOST co-creator, Damon Lindelof, to partner with Blumhouse and Universal for an action thriller that, according to sources, will spin out of America's heated right vs. left mentality. Entitled THE HUNT, the sensitive-topic feature is set to be helmed by Z FOR ZACHARIAH director Craig Zobel (COMPLIANCE), who will shoot the film based off of a script penned by Lindelof and Nick Cuse (THE LEFTOVERS).

In the past, Lindelof, Cuse and Zobel have joined forces on HBO's THE LEFTOVERS, a drama that tells the story of how three years after the disappearance of 2% of the global population, a group of people from New York struggle to continue their lives, while they cope with the tragedy of the unexplained nature of the event. While much about THE HUNT is being kept under wraps at this time, sources have told THR that the feature will indeed have a political bent, and that the events of the film will reflect the harsh divide and aggressive nature of America's current political woes. To that end, the film is also said to be taking those themes to an extreme and violent level.

Jason Blum will enter the project as a producer via the Blumhouse label alongside Lindelof, who will produce on behalf of his White Rabbit studio. Cuse and Zobel will also serve as executive producers on the project.

Does THE HUNT sound intriguing to you? Does the combined creativity and power of those involved with the project have you feeling optimistic about how its political nature will be presented? When the plot details are eventually revealed, what do you imagine the film will be about? Let us know in the comments section below.
