Daniel Radcliffe is in final negotiations to play Igor in Frankenstein

02.28.2013

Remember when Daniel Radcliffe was interested in taking on the role of Igor in Max Landis' adaptation of FRANKENSTEIN? It seems now that he's probably going to score the part.

Variety is reporting that Radcliffe is in final negotiations to take on Igor, who was described last Fall as, "as pathologically dirty and dressed in old clowns clothing." What's interesting is that according to Landis, the story is seen from the perspective of Igor, and will break down current misconceptions surrounding the mythology as well as the character.

When the project was first starting up, Landis talked about his take on the material:

I began to pick apart our knowledge of Frankenstein and discovered that the publicís idea of this myth comes from a million different placesÖI became committed to recontextualizing it all so it all worked in one story. By the end of the day, yeah itís a period piece, yes itís from Igorís perspective, but man itís coolÖ.itís the best thing Iíve written.

Paul McGuigan (LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN) is still attached to direct. Wonder if this one will stand out with the 800 others that are being developed at competing studios. In DanRad, we believe.

Extra Tidbit: One of the best quotes ever via Dan Radcliffe: "I used to be self conscious about my height, but then I thought, fuck that, I'm Harry Potter.Ē

You want to clear up misconceptions about the Frankenstein Mythology? First, its not a myth, its a novel. Second, there is no character named Igor anywhere in it! There wasn't even an Igor in the first movie, or the second! Why do people have to keep reimagining Frankenstein for film, when no one has yet to simply tell the original story?! Frank Darabont and Kenneth Branaugh tried, but still took great liberties with the story, particularly the ending. Good (but not great) director, good actor,
