If you didn't like any of the Danny McBride/Jody Hill joints (THE FOOT FIST WAY, "Eastbound & Down", OBSERVE AND REPORT) then I just don't understand you. Like, seriously, don't talk to me. Okay, I'm just kidding. But isn't it funny how comedy can do that? When it boils down to it, I'm a simple man that likes seeing people punched in the face in slow motion with fun music playing in the background. That's pretty much it, and you're either with me on that or you're not.

So for those of us who do appreciate this gang's brand of funny, you'll be absolutely thrilled to know that Danny McBride and Jody Hill are re-teaming to bring us the action-comedy L.A.P.I., the debut project under McBride, Hill, and David Gordon Green's production company Rough House Pictures. Green, who directed episodes of "Eastbound & Down" and PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (as well as this year's YOUR HIGHNESS) will be producing with Hill directing. From Variety: "Based on a pitch from writers Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan, story details are being kept under wraps apart from McBride taking on the role of a beaten-down, hardboiled P.I."

What should prove interesting here are writers Diliberti and Sullivan. The pair had two scripts on the 2009 Black List (displaying the best unproduced scripts in Hollywood) that made them a real hot commodity in town. How their story will play in tandem with McBride and Hill's sensibilities will be something to keep an eye on.

I do love these guys. I love their southern white boy shtick. I love Hill's oh-so-wrong sense of humor ("Observe and Report" was the most underrated movie I saw last year).

So on that note, this could be good. I also love hard-boiled detective stories, and that sounds like a perfect fit for Danny McBride.

I have never seen their TV show, but I despised "Foot-Fist Way" and "Observe And Report", and find McBride to be playing the same kind of character over and over again, to varying degrees of success.

nice
Finally Mcbride no longer has to be second banana to inferior talent, the guy steals every scene he is in and he even kind of ruined the underrated All the Real Girls by being to much of a dominating presence in each scene he was in (which wasnt many). Hopefully they have enough of a following so they can make enough money to keep their shyt up, but unfortunately their work is too dark to ever...

These guys are the most original voices working in mainstream comedy right now, aside Edgar Wright & Simon Pegg. I love their odd tones, weird editing, and dark humor. Can't wait for this especially after the underappreciated Observe & Report and one of the funniest films of the decade The Foot Fist Way. Oh and I think East Bound & Down will return in the fall last time I heard.

where is season 2 of eastbound and down? comic tragedy sounds like an oxymoron but the first season pulled that off beautifully.

Awesome
so far I have loved everything these guys have done, including Observe and Report which was one of my favorite movies of 2009. So I am excited for this.

Yea seriously, there has been no news about Season 2 at all, damnit.

MCBride for Ghostbusters, I wish...
I love it. McBride is great. I'd like to see him be in the next Ghostbusters film.
