Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic Noah catches a wave

10.03.2011

Fans of adamantium-laced mutants and the work of filmmaker Darren Aronofsky are probably still smarting over his departure from THE WOLVERINE. And while it will be some time before we see how well replacement James Mangold acquits himself with Logan's Japanese adventure, Aronofsky will be busy with another epic tale.

Aronofsky finally appears to have the go-ahead on his passion project NOAH, with Paramount and New Regency coming together to cover the substantial cost (potentially $130 million) of the environmental disaster/bible story.

GLADIATOR screenwriter John Logan is working on the script for the project, which could begin production in the spring. Aronofsky was previously chasing Christian Bale for the title role of the legendary animal-loving ark builder.

The director had previously worked with Canadian artist Nico Henrichon on some artwork to help convey his visual intentions, you can check that out below.

Aronofsky is a great firector, but bibilical epics like Noah is the last thing we need in this day & age.

You need an older person playing Noah, remember he brings his entire family with him on the ark which is about 3 generations worth. Also people in pre-flood days lived to around 800 yrs, according to biblical references Noah was around 600 when the flood occurred. Also Noah wasn't white before everyone starts throwing around white actor names, he was most likely middle eastern in complexion. Now let the negs roll for using biblical references.

Anything Aranofsky rocks. And that HAS to be the most normal thing I've ever seen him wearing . . .

Awesome. Hopefully this is a throwback to the old Cecil B. DeMille biblical epics. I'm not entirely religious, but a good story is a good story.

Pretty sure Daniel Craig won't be playing Noah.

If Aronofsky wasn't involved and it was some other chump I'd be much less insterested. I like when directors switch it up to a genre they don't usually deal with, and a budget they don't normally get near. He's lucky he got that amount for a personal project really.
Get Steve Carell to play Noah, worked well for him last time!

Leaving religion out of it...

...which may be the best idea in this case...there's a pretty epic story at the center of this tale. Bale is perfect for it too. I still wish the 'Nofsky was doing Wolverine but this'll do.
