I had not heard of David Cross’ feature debut HITS until now; it premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and the first trailer has finally arrived. I'm a fan of Cross, which is expected considering he's publicly criticised the likes of Larry the Cable Guy and the ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS movies; so who wouldn’t want to like him? I should probably also mention that he also gave us Mr. Show, if you like to laugh you would enjoy that sketch comedy series. Where was I? Oh right, the trailer for HITS.

First, here’s the official synopsis:

“Hits” is a dark comedy exploring the nature of fame in 21st century YouTube America. The film takes place in a small town in upstate New York populated by people who trade in unrealistic expectations. It’s a story in which fame, delusion, earnestness, and recklessness meet, shake hands, and disrupt the lives around them.

The viral sensation story seems a little played but I’m always up for some Matt Walsh, and if he’s yelling, I’m laughing. The supporting roles look to be where most of the humor will come from; we have Michael CeraDerek WatersJulia Stiles, David Koechner, Amy Sedaris, and Jason Ritter. We don’t know when the film will get released, it’s coming soon though and by the looks of it via BitTorrent. I will come across this on VOD one day and watch it I presume.
