Before David Duchovny reprises his role as Agent Fox Mulder on next year's event series return for THE X-FILES, he will return to network television as a different type of law enforcement for the event series Aquarius. In the 13 episode event series, Duchovny will hunt for none other than notorious killer Charles Manson.

Duchovny leads a cast made up primarily of unknowns including Gethin Anthony, Grey Damon, Emma Dumont, Claire Holt, Chance Kelly. The series definitely feels like a network series, but seeing David Duchovny in a role different than Fox Mulder or Hank Moody is a welcome change of pace.

In 1967, Los Angeles police sergeant Sam Hodiak (Duchovny) is helped in a missing persons case by undercover officer Brian Shafe (Gray Damon), who behaves like a hippie and fits in with the people being questioned. Unknown to them, their investigation will lead them to Charles Manson.

I am a sucker for a good serial killer movie and this looks like it may be intriguing enough based just on David Duchovny in this trailer alone. The limited run of episodes makes it seem like it could come back for a second season, but I hope they wrap it up appropriately in the time given.

Aquarius debuts on NBC on May 28th.

And the fact that this reminds me of the Fincher helmed flick 'Zodiac', makes it all the more better.

Looks terrific and Duchovny knows how to pick interesting and intriguing television series to be apart of; huge fan of X-Files, and especially Californication.

Wonder how based on reality any of it is. Helter Skelter is a fascinating book. Have to say I really love that era of American history - the death and dark side of the hippie era - really interesting times.
