Another week, another new David Fincher project!

The prolific attacher but leisurely director was recently associated with PAWN SACRIFICE, a movie featuring Tobey Maguire as chess wizard Bobby Fischer, but the filmmaker was apparently just consulting on the project.

Now comes word that he's following his Facebook movie THE SOCIAL NETWORK with a US remake of the superb Swedish thriller THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.

Fincher, who is also linked to direct or produce at least a dozen other projects (including HEAVY METAL, THE GOON and an HBO series), has been rumored for a US adaptation of Stieg Larsson's bestseller for a while but it's now f'reals.

The synopsis: One fateful day several years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared off the secluded island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger family. There was no corpse, no witnesses and no evidence. Nearly forty years later, investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist reluctantly accepts the unusual and seemingly unsolvable assignment of finding out what really happened to Harriet. Genius hacker, Lisbeth Salander The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is drawn into the case and the two form a fragile alliance as they dig into the sinister past of the Vangers and find out just how far theyre prepared to go to protect themselves and each other.

Haven't seen the original, nor read the books, but Fincher is very hit or miss with me, so I'll have to wait and see.

On another note, the poster for the original that is attached to this article is pimptastic.

She was one of the first to come to mind for me too. But I think maybe Anne Hathaway circa Rachel Getting Married.

The Finch
After seeing the movie this week, I immediately wanted to read the book and its sequels. I knew an American remake was inevitable. I just flat out accepted it because the story is too good and lends itself to too big a franchise for American studios to dismiss it. It seems like it could be a cash cow. What did not ever seem likely though, was that Fincher would possibly direct. I love his...

I just flat out accepted it because the story is too good and lends itself to too big a franchise for American studios to dismiss it. It seems like it could be a cash cow. What did not ever seem likely though, was that Fincher would possibly direct. I love his work and will watch anything he does. So while it might not be necessary to remake it (outside of the money issue), if Fincher directs this, I'll 100% go see it.

The book was interesting, the Swedish film was good. I dont see the point of making this film and I think its a step backward for Fincher. But if someone's gotta do it, Fincher is the better choice.

Neutral on this idea for now...
I love me some Fincher...and i'm a HUGE fan of the original Swedish movie. I just saw it recently and i found it to be great (although not going to lie i found that it fell apart a bit in the end and was a tad anticlimactic) but overall i loved it.

Lisbeth is what made the movie amazing...her character made the movie seem fresh and new and she is one of my favorite movie characters of all time. The actress who played her was superb...and i just don't see anyone that would be able to do her justice like the original actress did...

Kristen Stewart might be good as her, after seeing her play Joan Jett.

I saw The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo last week and enjoyed it quite a lot. The actress was spectacular. It's certainly a mix of genres and its easy to tell why Fincher is interested, though i can't say that makes me too interested. I already like the film (thats JUST released btw) a lot and i like Fincher a lot... so why the need to mix them up? I doubt it'll get a whole lot better, and i'd...
