David Slade comments on Daredevil, Deadpool, Wolverine

Mar. 21, 2011by:

Last week it was announced that David Slade would help a reboot of DAREDEVIL, and as he's the newest comic book director, he took to Twitter to comment on that and a few other superhero projects in the works.

First, DAREDEVIL:

Forgot to look at the internet for a few weeks and its a litany of false (and not so far off) rumours. So without breaking confidentiality, yes Daredevil, we have a great outline for a very strong character driven take on Mr Matt Murdock. It will bare [sic] no relation to the previous Daredevil movie in any way. We are at early planning stages and have not yet discussed any cast.

Haven't read too many rumors myself, but yes, I would hope it would be in a no way related to the first film. Better start discussing a cast soon. If I hear Alex Pettyfer mentioned one more time...

Then DEADPOOL:

Love DEADPOOL, was never engaged in the (quite fantastic) script, last I heard studio was looking at comedy directors. None of my business.

Comedy directors huh? Sure you want to retire already Kevin Smith?

And WOLVERINE:

WOLVERINE, there have been no discussions about this project to date. Interesting to see what will happen with that as the again excellent script by Chris McQuarrie was set largely in Japan. So that’s all the news that’s fit to print.

No discussions with him, or with anyone? Seriously, shelve this until Aronofsky is free in a year or whenever, you won't regret it. Or wait, are they losing the rights to Disney and that's why this has to get made now? I didn't even think of that.

Extra Tidbit: Let's hope DAREDEVIL's quality is more HARD CANDY than ECLIPSE.

Extra Tidbit

I hate when people compare a directors movies as if they are responsible for the plot etc. There was nothing directorially wrong with Eclipse. In fact, I think it was the best directed movie in the trilogy thus far. (The first half of Daredevil was pretty good then it really just fell apart.)

Daredevil

"It will bare [sic] no relation to the previous Daredevil movie in any way."

Too bad...I really liked the last version.

I liked the 1st Daredevil movie too. I say that they just let it be, but that will never happen.

Don't worry about Daredevil. Slade just made Eclipse for the paycheck.

Out of all of those movies, he would be best for Daredevil. Don't want him anywhere near Deadpool and The Wolverine.

I loved the original Daredevil movie (Director's Cut) and am very excited to see this reboot. More so than the Spider Man reboot.

Doesnt answer why anyone would stupidly ask about it. Its not Marvel trying to get all the movies to link up. Its Fox and they dont give a shit

Is it just me, or have internet movie web site editors created all the Daredevil hate? Everyone I now generally liked Daredevil. It's not great by any means but it's certainly a completely competent comic book movie. And it's no goofier than any of the Spiderman movies. Maybe I'd feel differently if I read the comic book...

The story of the first Daredevil isn't too bad, it's just that every lead actor, from Daredevil to Kingpin, to Electra and Bullseye, was badly miscast..

I can easily see why it gets so much hate. It has it's ups and downs, in my books. Not close to perfect or terrible.

I don't think I would say "miscast". I liked Daredevil, and think the actors in their roles were fine.

nice

I wanna see an actual Blind actor play DareDevil. at least while he's Matt Murdock and close ups.

Todd Philips would be a good choice to direct Deadpool, if he's up for it. But you cant move forward with it until Ryan Reynolds is locked.

They better cast someone good for Wolverine, the last movie sucked.
