Cross the suspension bridge of disbelief in the latest trailer for Final Destination 5

Jul. 7, 2011by: Dave Davis

The FINAL DESTINATION movies have taught us a couple of things: Pretty much any inanimate object can kill you, typically in some creative fashion. And if you somehow evade a premature demise during your daily activities, you'll soon meet a much more spectacularly grisly fate.

And so FINAL DESTINATION 5 gives us a whole new batch of lucky/unlucky humans who briefly escape the Reaper's grasp before being smeared, dismembered, disintegrated or otherwise erased from reality in some Rube Goldberg-esque series of implausible mishaps. This time around, the people who will potentially be transformed into quivering fleshchunks are Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell, Miles Fisher, Arlen Escarpeta, David Koechner, Ellen Wroe, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Courtney B. Vance and Tony Todd.

Synopsis (as if necessary): "In this fifth installment, Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man's premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death's sinister agenda."

The movie opens August 12th. Check out the latest trailer below!

Extra Tidbit: That whole trailer's just kind of a big spoiler, isn't it?

Nice.

I know most people don't agree, but I think this series should go on for years. The 4th was was pretty bad, but the first three were so much fun I though. These are so much better horror films than Hostel or Saw. These have that "Ham" Factor that Nightmare on Elm and Friday 13th had that people seem to drop out of horror films today. Keep 'em coming please.

Bahahaha. I'm glad I had laser eye surgery 3 weeks ago, before watching this trailer.

But it looks just as dumb as the rest!

I kind of want to write Final Destination 6.

Where the person who has the premonition is accused of being a terrorist, because that's where I thought the movie was going at the beginning of the trailer.

Seriously, that would've been awesome. A court-room drama instead of OH SHI YOUNG PERSON DEAD, OH SHI ANOTHER ONE, OOPS ANOTHER, BUT WAIT THIS ONE WAS NEVER MEANT TO DIE, OOPS MAIN CHARACTER DEAD.

Although not as good as the first trailer, it's still a pretty intense trailer. Also, for the tidbit, producer Craig Perry said that the trailer doesn't reveal a whole lot than one might expect so it's basically a lot of red herrings in the trailer.

I enjoy these movies, but after the first two, do they even TRY to connect the films?

Finally!

At least there's a new twist. And it only took them 4 sequels to come up with it.
