In the winner for most generic movie poster of the year goes to… I mean, really. A poster like this can only mean one thing: formulaic! I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but that doesn’t mean you can’t judge a movie by its poster! And if we’re going that route for DECEPTION, then things are looking bleak. The film stars Ewan McGregor as an unhappy accountant who gets introduced to a private sex club by his mysterious lawyer friend (Hugh Jackman) and he soon finds himself the prime suspect in the disappearance of a woman. When I first heard about this movie, I thought it could be the next GAME. Then they changed the film’s name from THE TOURIST to the incredibly derivative DECEPTION. Then the trailer was released and it failed to excite. And now, this poster. While this film still has potential, its marketing campaign is bollocks. Check it out on April 25th.

Extra Tidbit: This film has a double dosage of good looking with actresses Maggie Q and Natasha Henstridge presumably and hopefully playing sex workers.

The poster looks so.. 90s, whatever.. on the other hand a miscast isnt always bad, Id like to see what Hugh Jackman can do with "evil".

Dekard, I totally agree. Once, that was not the case. See "Trainspotting" for proof of how good he can be. However, lately, he's just...there. Even in Star Wars.

HMMM
Lame poster, the movie hotties should have been included in a more visible fashion, esp Maggie Q in her lingerie as shown in the trailer.

Also Ewan is the most uncharismatic actor I've seen getting work. You completely forget him after the movie is over. Am I the only one? Cassandra's Dream was one of those good films forgotten largely to Ewan's non existent performance.

I really like Ewan and Hugh (and Maggie and Natasha as well) but I resolved myself never to see this movie when, in the trailer, one character describes Hugh's character as "terrifying" - Hugh Jackman is many things, but terrifying isn't one of them. He looks woefully miscast in this - was Julian McMahon too busy to take the role?
