Demonic possession but no INXS in the trailer for The Devil Inside

If you're still craving some frights after all the low-budget "found footage" and faux documentary horror movies from the past couple of years, you're in luck. (But not until the cold month of January, since the inexplicable franchise of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY has October locked up.)

THE DEVIL INSIDE is the latest attempt to shock you with shaky footage, unfamiliar actors, impressive flexibility and creepy Satan voices. It comes from director William Brent Bell, whose last feature was the supernatural killer-videogame flick STAY ALIVE.

Synopsis: "In 1989, emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call from Maria Rossi (Suzan Crowley) confessing that she had brutally killed three people. 20 years later, her daughter Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) seeks to understand the truth about what happened that night. She travels to the Centrino Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Italy where her mother has been locked away to determine if her mother is mentally ill or demonically possessed. When she recruits two young exorcists (Simon Quarterman and Evan Helmuth) to cure her mom using unconventional methods combining both science and religion, they come face-to-face with pure evil in the form of four powerful demons possessing Maria. Many have been possessed by one; only one has been possessed by many. "

Looks pretty intense. I wish this would be out on Halloween. Paranormal Activity has run its course damn it.

Oh, I like that first contortion scene.
I wonder if this is some kind of "demonic outbreak" scenario, sort of like 'REC' without the biting?

I actually like this kind of stuff. Horror's these days don't have that edge of realism anymore. As much as I appreciate CGI it needs to stay out of horror films as it removes that slice of realism. These found footage films don't have that problem.

However this film looks like it sits between found footage and a standard film. The footage looks too clean, the shots looked too well framed, and the acting in this trailer from what I saw doesn't quite seem authentic enough in parts.

I'll give it a chance though, these type of films are the only ones that resemble a scary films to me these days.

Cool

Looks pretty authentic. I saw an Italian doc about exorcisms in Rome and this trailer looked almosy exactly like it. The mother was possessed in the doc and her daughter was visiting her and the priest even explained how these things aren;t just religion based but science based as well. Wish I could watch that doc again. Forgot what it's called. But this looks really good.

Looks pretty good.

But I am also thinking that they somehow all die in the end. Like another movie that has a similar synopsis.
