Denzel's Unstoppable

04.24.2009

Denzel Washington sure does love him some Tony Scott. In what would potentially be their fifth film together, the two are talks to collaborate on their second consecutive train-based thriller. The film is called UNSTOPPABLE and it would feature Washington as an engineer who jumps in a locomotive with an inexperienced conductor in hot pursuit of a runaway train carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals. Mark Bomback wrote the script, which is inspired by a true event.

I'm not so sure how hot I am for this partnership as most, if not all of Washington and Scott's films together have left me somewhat underwhelmed. Although I am excited for their upcoming remake of THE TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3 and I know you are too.

No Doubt

'Man on Fire'. The other two collabos were very good, but Fire was badass. For once, a kid was more than a jolting annoyance in a film. Well, except for the kid in 'Cop and a Half.'

Absolutely Crimson Tide

That movie runs neck and neck with "The Hunt for Red October" in best submarine thrillers. And Gene Hackman gives Denzel a much-needed run for his money.

CRIMSON TIDE

That movie was great. I hated "Man on fire" though. The epileptic Camera, and the stupid script and on top of that DAKOTA FANNING (my most hated child actor).
Looking forward to unstoppable. Kind of reminds me of "Under Siege 2".

I'd have to say Crimson Tide beats out Man on Fire, basically because of the supporting cast

Crimson Tide (1995, 9/10): Easily The Best W/S Film So Far.

Although I do love Man On Fire (2004, 8/10). But Deja Vu (2006, 5/10) was about as good as 3 day old microwavable pizza.

False. I am not excited for the Pelham 123 remake. The old one is great, and while I love Denzel, I do not dig "bad guy" Travolta anymore. He perfected that schtick with Broken Arrow.

And without a doubt Man on Fire is their best film together. My favorite Tony Scott film as well.

Whoa Whoa Whoa, back up the milk truck...they've made some awesome flicks together. Man on Fire! Man on Fire is amazing! Easily their best followed by Crimson Tide and then Deja Vu. I could watch all three of those films over and over. Bring 'em on I want more!
