Details on upcoming projects for Guillermo del Toro and Sam Raimi on World of Warcraft

Jun. 25, 2010by:

There was a lot of sad going around when Guillermo del Toro decided to drop THE HOBBIT. But now Peter Jackson has agreed to helm the project, so no more tears.

Continuing on the thought of lost projects...

Sam Raimi left Spider-Man 4 because he and Sony could not come to an agreement on the vision for the film. Then in turn this left Raimi with more time to concentrate on his WORLD OF WARCRAFT movie.

Collider recently caught up with both directors at the Saturn Awards. They cover several topics with del Toro and Raimi. Expect some lengthy details from Raimi on WARCRAFT and del Toro talks about THE HOBBIT situation. I could listen to del Toro talk all day, so if you feel the same the interview clocks in around the 23 minute mark.

Guillermo del Toro Talks THE HOBBIT, HELLBOY 3, FRANKENSTEIN, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, SATURN AND THE END OF DAYS from ColliderVideos on Vimeo.

HB3

There's nothing I would rather than Hellboy 3.

As for the tidbit. I think Doug Jones would be a brilliant Frankenstien or Frankensteins monster.

Honestly I love Raimi, I love that he's a massive nerd and that he's taking properties that he's genuinely passionate about (Spidey, WoW).

Having said that though, I wish I was 1/8th as passionate about a Warcraft film as he is. As it stands, I really couldn't care less about a Warcraft film, which is a shame as I'm a Raimi fan.

Wow he's passionate! Not like it made Spider-Man anything more than shit. Someone who is "passionate" about WoW would have invested at least a month of their life to it. He is a poser.

your comment has me a little worried. i really hope your lack of passion for WoW doesn't affect the movie.

@Stryfe

The only bad Spider-Man was the 3rd one. The important themes of the previous two took a back burner to the numerous scenes of ensemble characters being in peril. You're calling Raimi a poser? "would have invested at least a month of their life to it"? Did you actually watch the video. I think you're a little off.
@ Guy:
Just look at it as a fantasy epic like LoTR instead of the preconceived notion that it's a video game that you think a bunch of nerds play.

Raimi's looking more and more like Oliver Stone used to.
