There were some who were still holding on to a glimmer of hope that it wouldn't happen but, alas, dear schmoes, it has. Bruce Willis' upcoming fourth and presumably final hurrah as terrorist obliterator John McClane, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD, has been given a PG-13 rating, as per the notice on the film's official site. It seems McClane is intent on living free but is only willing to die with the minimum amount of hard cursing and violence suitable for those thirteen years or younger. skynet, its not like the mmpa rates all movies compared to one another. They dont sit around and say "Shit this movie is more violent than Harry Potter, it has to be R or the system makes no sense!"
A movie can be very violent and not get an R as long as it doesnt have visible graphic violence or something.

Hate when they screw w/ sequels ratings!
I can't believe that the studios are as big as a sellout as they are. It pisses me off that they are willing to screw w/one of the best frieking lines in Movie History, so they can let ignorant know-it-all little 13 year olds (I know I was at that age) to go see this movie! That means they probably haven't seen the original or don't know how to appreciate it! But thank god for the most hated

Even w/ all the ignorant little tweens and teens that now infest this site, I still consider most of the people that visit this site more of the intelligent of the movie fans. It sure puts the piece of crap AICN site to embarassing shame. I'm ashamed that people sell-out so easily these days, they are going to lose a lot of fans w/this really poor move.

"the line" since that would be considered used in a sexual way. The MPAA considered "motherf...." to be a "Sexual Sitation" as stupid as that sounds. PG-13 is different than it was years ago, and this will definitely be action packed and have lots of foul language. Just give it a chance.

What the fuck does it matter? Hell, man, Willis saw the film and he said its just as good as the original, so who cares if a few curses go? So long as there's plenty of action, I don't give a good goddamn about the rating!

… obviously this is just an opinion, but I’d rather see it as rated R, so that it would have the freedom to be more raw, bloody, and outrageous. Plus it would keep unaccompanied teens out of the theater. Hopefully it won't affect the final product too much. I agree though, Fuck the MPAA ratings!

As long as Willis has witty one liners and there are great action scenes, then I see no problem. Besides, remember the last time Bruce Willis played a cop? It was a really gritty action drama and got (deservedly) good reviews despite the ok box office and it was called 16 Blocks. Yet, what rating did it get? Exactly. I'll just take the "wait and see" approach although I'll definitely see

people grow up. It is just a rating. Patriot Games was rated R and when it's sequel Clear and present Danger was released it was rate pg-13. In my opinion Clear and present danger was still dang good with that rating. let's wait and see before we start hating on a movie we have yet to see.

hey, i wanted to hear McClane's catch phrase too, but the way I look at it is this: it will be an action-packed movie for sure and I'm not gonna miss that experience on the big screen. I'll wait for the director's cut to buy, but I'll definitely be seeing it in theaters.

I realize that it is just a rating, but the difference between PG-13 and R makes for a different movie-going experience. You know how many obnoxious junior high kids are excited right now because they get to legally partake in this thrill ride? I'm sorry that we're being true fanboys powerbomb. Some of us grew up with these flicks with Willis swearing like a sailor, blowing up shit and scenes of harsh violence. With the PG-13 rating we may get things being blown up but McClane will no longer swear like a sailor and the violence will not be harsh. FOX fucking hates us fans, they really do. They want to appeal to those 13 year old fans

It really bothers me that all these people that supposedly are so knowledgeable on movie act like this is a huge deal when it's not.

It's really sad to hear everyone's reaction. I won't even bother getting into it. Just don't be so dumb people. Use your head. PG-13 means nothing in todays world. All it means is you can't say Fuck twice.

You think that more blood would have fixed the terminally flawed script and pacing of AvP? Would some heavy profanity have made Mortal Kombat: Anhillation watchable? Would hardcore blood and guts make Battlefield Earth

Would hardcore blood and guts make Battlefield Earth less laughable? And would a few F-bombs have saved the crapfest of X3? Ask yourself how many horrible R rated films you've seen, and I think you'll know the real answer. It all lies in the script and the directing, not the graphic content or the capacity for verbal vulgarity. If Underworld and Underworld Evolution taught me anything, it's that Len Wiseman knows what he's doing behind a camera with a good action script. While I admit that I am unfamiliar with the script work of Mark Bomback, I have confidence that Wiseman wouldn't have done a film with an actionless story. And hell, even if the movie DOES suck, it won't be for a PG-13 rating. Time to start putting the blame where it belongs, guys. It belongs on bad directors and writers. If it kills you to not hear Bruce Willis say “fuck” a few more times, than you need to seriously reexamine what’s important to you in a film.

If Spielberg could get Transformers moved from an R to a PG-13, I'm sure Willis could have convinced Rothman's dumbass to grow some balls and go for the R.

If the film wasn't cut at all and received a PG-13, I'd be fine, but we all know that's not what happened. And I don't care what site Bruce gets on and claims this is the best Die Hard yet, it's not like he's going to say it sucks....not

It's going to be a kick ass movie. PG-13 or not. Deal with it. To be honest with you, the violence in the Die Hards wasn't that high it was the cursing. And honestly, it don't really matter about cursing. As long as it kicks violent ass -- and it will.

I'm not paying to see this in theatres either. Though I will see it, Evan Almighty will be getting the money that I would've given to LFoDH. I seriously fucking hope this movie bombs.

While we're at it, Bruce, up yours too. You could've easily helped prevent this PG-13 crap.
