Diane Kruger to join Saoirse Ronan for Stephenie Meyer's The Host

Jan. 20, 2012by: Niki Stephens

From what I've been hearing, Stephenie Meyer's THE HOST is a step-up from TWILIGHT. I've read Meyer's work so I'm on the skeptical side. Let's hope that this isn't muddled with weird romance, terrible dialogue, and characters that basically have the IQ of a yardstick.

The story centers on a parasitic alien species called The Souls that have just about wiped out the human population. Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons and Jake Abel are already set to star in the film. The gorgeous Diane Kruger is the latest to join the cast.

Kruger will play, "The Seeker, who is charged with overseeing the conversion of a young rebel soldier (Ronan) whose consciousness has been infiltrated by Wanderer, a soul that has taken control of bodies and minds but who is daunted by the young human’s spirit — and obsessed with the memories of her boyfriend and her brother — and sets out to track them down. The Seeker pursues her, knowing that the conversion of the rebel will lead to the discovery and eradication of the rebel movement."

The Andrew Niccol helmed adaptation will start production soon and is due to release on March 29, 2013.

Meyer/Twilight aside, this sounds like it could be interesting, always up for a bit of sci-fi.

Was also very pleased to find out this was nothing to do with the Korean film.

WHAT THE FUCK...

id this shit? A piss poor gay ass rip off of 'the body-snatchers' (the original)? This fucking bitch is a hack and deserves to be run out of hollywood on a rail. Give this hack a rest and let another hack get a shot. Her one dimensional characters are the worst pieces of shit to ever stain the screen and i pray that actors like pattinson and stewart can regain some estimation in the eyes of their peers and the public at large. Fuck!!!

The reason this gets a 'hip' is because I am so f'ing thankful this is not a remake of the Korean film. That said, if it's coming from source material by Stephanie Meyer, count me out. I can live without more of her horrible writing.

Depending on a trailer, this might be interesting.

Sweet! But....

Really, The Host is worlds better than the Twilight books were, so I'm looking forward to this. However, Kruger doesn't quite match up with the way the Seeker looked in the books. I hope she can at least carry her ::ahem:: charming personality.
