Ding, dong, Friday the 13th 2 is dead

Twitter, where movies are created and killed in 140 characters are less, has revelaed the latest film to get the ax, and frankly, it's a bit of a surprise.

Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller was tweeted about the status of the FRIDAY THE 13th sequel that last we checked, was supposed to be hitting theaters this August. His response?

“it is dead – not happening.”

Bloody Disgusting investigated further and Fuller told them that there was no movement on the project, which is strange, considering this kind of movie could be theoretically be made in a week and written by a team of cats jumping on top of keyboards. Here’s a plot for you: Jason goes somewhere, kills people, some of them topless. BAM! If you end up using that, I want a producer credit.

The original film (well, the original remake) made a very impressive $40M its opening weekend, despite a slew of negative reviews, and the idea of killing a presumably “easy money” sequel just seems rather odd. I’m not complaining, as I’m sure it would have been terrible, but it’s a rather unexpected move to say the least .

Extra Tidbit: Maybe it's because HALLOWEEN 2 did so poorly.
