Director George Miller on testing for Mad Max: Fury Road and Mel Gibson's cameo

12.03.2013

Many of you were surprised when it was announced MAD MAX: FURY ROAD will be hitting theaters in 2015. Most assumed the movie would be released at some point next year, even with the recent additional filming. There have been rumors that production hasn’t gone smoothly (to say the least) for MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, so how worried should we be about the film’s quality?

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, director George Miller says there hasn’t been any re-shoots for MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (just more filming), and testing for the movie has gone very well with audiences.

“There are no re-shoots at all. Other than some brief augmenting shots, filming has been confined to scenes that bookend the movie. Our film, luckily after a ridiculous amount of work, is testing extremely well. We're very happy. There has been a lot of doubt about it, [people saying] 'it took so long', but Warners have delayed it until 2015 to go into the top weekend of the year.''

It’s been rumored Mel Gibson might have a cameo in the new Mad Max film, but unfortunately the actor will not appear in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, says Miller. ''It would have been nice somehow but, no, it's not true.” It’s too bad we won’t be seeing Tom Hardy as Mad Max for another eighteen months, but hopefully it will be worth the wait.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD also stars Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult, and will land in theaters on May 15th, 2015.
