Disney may be following the Marvel strategy with LucasFilm by releasing 2 or 3 Star Wars movies every year!

So, before you lose your minds with that headline, remember that we have spent the last 35 years with a total of 6 movies, 2 Ewoks movies, 1 Holiday Special, 1 animated movie and 2 animated series. Add to that all of the comic books and official novels and there is more than enough material for what Disney has planned.
Up until now, we were under the impression that we would be getting a new STAR WARS movie every 2-3 years, starting with STAR WARS: EPISODE VII in 2015. Well, according to the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, LucasFilm head Kathleen Kennedy says that Disney is planning for something more like two or three STAR WARS movies every year!
This means that we would could potentially see the Skywalker timeline as the main series (think THE AVENGERS) while also getting extended universe movies that build up to each main film (think THOR, IRON MAN, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY). This means we could see the Zahn trilogy become a reality or we could be talking Knights of the Old Republic. 2-3 movies a year means we could see all of those dream directors helming their own bit of the series. We could get darker, adult STAR WARS, animated ones for the kids, the mind boggles at the possibilities!
And no, we can not have too much STAR WARS. Marvel has got their shit in order and the movies are getting better and better. Why can;t STAR WARS be the same way?
So, buckle up everyone, because there is a lot of Jedi goodness coming our way!

more star wars is a good thing
Why would you pay Billions for one of the biggest franchises in existence
They should try getting one or two new movies right before they start coming out with statements like this.
It's like they've jumped past the milking the Star Wars cash cow straight to pulling the damn udders off.

Lets worry about profit and forget the artistry...
OLD REPUBLIC - NEW JEDI ORDER - THRAWN TRILOGY
On a personal note, I have to love all this speculation that's going. Everyone guessing what the hell is going. No one knows for sure. The meetings at Disney must be nuts with all the strategic discussions about what should be done and what will be done. We can only hang back and wait and see and hope that the things we want to see regarding Star Wars come to fruition.
old republic...
Awesome Poster. Where'd it come from?
Let's be clear -- that's not what she said.
Marvel's strategy works for Marvel thanks in large part to the fact that their movies are set for the most part in the real world. 6 weeks of location shooting in New York, LA, Cleveland and half of principal photography is in the can. And because the stories they're telling are so strong, we forgive the fact that the visuals are fairly mainstream and a few corners get cut here and there on special effects.
With Star Wars, I expect things to be a bit

With Star Wars, I expect things to be a bit grander. Extravagant sets, strange new worlds, perfectly refined visual effects. Lord of the Rings big. Avatar big. You know...Star Wars big.
If they have a strategy whereby they can pursue a main trilogy with that level of grandeur, and then tell side stories (say a Boba Fett movie, an Alderaan movie, a Rogue Squadron movie) without sacrificing production value...they certainly have my attention.
Please be true!

No thank you
Star Wars has always been one storyline. Many characters but one central plot. Keep the movies how they are. 3 films released 3 years apart from each other. Then wait a decade and do it again. It's that simple. Yes we are thinking years and years, but this keeps the franchise fresh enough and focused enough to keep going. I'm

I'm not saying you cant have whole movies based on Wookies or Gungan, i'm just saying why spread yourselves thin
