Disney’s live-action Mulan rounds out the cast as filming begins

As Disney prepares to prove, once again, that the flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of them all, the House of Mouse has announced that they've completed the cast of their upcoming live-action adaptation of MULAN. Now set to join Yifei Liu, Yoson An, Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Ron Yuan, Tzi Ma, Chum Ehelepola, Gong Li and Jet Li for the adventure are Rosiland Choa (WHAT DREAMS MAY COME), Cheng Pei-pei (CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON), and Nelson Li (TV's BLADE: THE SERIES).

Alongside the casting announcements for the Niki Caro-directed film, Disney has also released a brilliant new photo of Yifei Liu as the indomitable title character, Mulan (pictured above). In the movie, which is based upon the tale of Hua Mulan, a young Chinese maiden disguises herself as a male warrior in order to save her father. Along her journey, Mulan meets a number of fierce soldier friends and creatures of legend to aid her in her quest. Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver will pen the screenplay alongside Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek. MULAN is one of many live-action adaptations coming from Disney over the next few years, with filming just having wrapped on MALEFICENT 2 starring Angelina Jolie as the misunderstood, fallen fairy.

The live-action adaptation is now set for a March 27, 2020 release.
