Django is off the chain in the teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino's latest

06.06.2012by:

The teaser for DJANGO UNCHAINED has finally been posted online and here's your first look below:

That was badass. I prefer the "Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Vengeance" tag over the cheezy "Django is off the chain." But Leonardo DiCaprio looks awesome, Jamie Foxx looks like he gained some muscle for the role, and Christoph Waltz is just as perfect as I expected. There seems to be the trademark Tarantino humor throughout the footage as well. That final scene between Foxx and the original Django, Franco Nero, is classic.

Plot: Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles - dead or alive. Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South's most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago. Django andSchultz's search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of "Candyland," an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson), Candie's trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival...

Once Fandango puts up the HD quality video, we will certainly share that, but slightly blurry Tarantino goodness is still a hundred times more satisfying than having none.

DJANGO UNCHAINED opens on Christmas Day.

Extra Tidbit: The fact that I know this movie will be rated R no matter what the content is makes me happy. I love watching Quentin revel in his own crapulence.

Wow.

Really blown away by the classic Western imagery at play here. I was expecting a movie set mostly in the Deep South, with heavy Spaghetti Western influence. But that teaser had gorgeous Western vistas that would make John Ford jizz in his pants.

I won't be seeing this ON Christmas, but I damn sure will be there on Boxing Day.

Wow, indeed!

And I love how QT takes any genre and ties his style of music too it (long live Johnny Cash). As much as I loved the Basterds, this may be the eating of the cake too! Plus, Leo looks awesome and I hope if he gets nominated for an Oscar between this and Gatsby, it's this and he takes home the prize...

I can't believe they used the off the chain tag! That's awful. The film however, looks intriguing. A western with shades of 1970's blaxploitation (from the trailer anyway). What's not to like.

This is definitely a Tarantino movie. They even cut to a gratuitous scene of blood just so we don't doubt that.

I'm not a DiCaprio die-hard. He's talented and he picks good projects, and I often go see them, but this is the first time since "Blood Diamond" I've actually been excited to see what he does with his role. He seems to have just the right amount of Colonel Sanders goofiness. I never doubted Jamie Foxx could pull this off, as while Will Smith would be a more interesting actor to

I never doubted Jamie Foxx could pull this off, as while Will Smith would be a more interesting actor to imagine in the role, Foxx is one of the best black actors working and continues to prove himself in just about every kind of movie and role. Likewise Christoph Waltz.

But I look forward to a more hi-res version so I can better pick out which other actors make the cut. So far I think that's Russo and Remar who bite the dust in the first little bit.

FINALLY!

Words cannot describe how happy this makes me. Perhaps it's because I read the script when it leaked online last year, but I know this movie is going to take cinema to a whole new level (at least in the N-word use department). Foxx looked a little iffy in the beginning of the trailer, but the gun shots and blood spurts remind us that Tarantino knows what hes doing. It's been fun anticipating this movie for so damn long, now it's time to let the bandwagon general public give Django some hype.

I like what I see. Not what I expected, but definitely Tarantino. The teaser was a lot more fun than I thought it would be and I like the Blaxploitation touch to it, including the music.

there's a reason why he has to wear that... it takes place in the beginning of the script... dont worry, he wont have that on long.

I really wish we could've seen what Kevin Costner and Joseph Gordon-Levitt would've brought to it, but it's Tarantino, so I'm in, regardless.

I really like how the title turns out to be so literal.
This dude couldn't make a bad movie if he tried.

Can't believe how disappointed that left me...

I was really looking forward to this movie but that trailer made this look so incredibly cheesy that I don't know what to think now. I don't know if it's the music or what but I also got a weird Jackie Brown vibe from this. Does QT not remember how to write normal characters rather than cartoon characters anymore?

CHRISTMAS IS GONNA BE DOPE THIS YEAR.

AWESOME trailer. I'll get to work on a gif of that extreme zoom-in of Leo soon. In addition, I think it'll have the occasional lightheartedness of Basterds, but the overall seriousness of K.B. Vol.2.

Thanks to Jamie I now know how to pronounce his name! LOL!

Once again it looks like Quentin has a hit on his hands! Is it just me or does Johnny Cash's music end up in a lot of movies? I wonder if every song he's done has made it into a movie in one way or another? This looks pretty good! Can't wait!

having read the script (which is awesome!) I didn't expect the movie to be so humorous. The script is really hardcore in terms of violence and suspense. So I hope we'll get some of that too.

I read the script too and it was pretty damn humorous. The Schultz character had me laughing my ass off nearly every scene he was in (he is going to become a classic movie character, mark my words).

Django wasn't a humorous character, and he isn't humorous in this trailer. The whole 'D' is silent line is him referencing what Schultz said to him toward to beginning of the film.

The script was also extremely violent. Perhaps Tarantino's most violent story yet.

Why read the script before seeing the film.

Just ruins the film for you fella unless you are offered to work on the film.

The trailer was pretty exciting to watch, and it looks like Dicaprio may have dug up something awesome, performance wise. But ... Waltz reminds me of Hans Landa a bit more than I expected, and Foxx didn't strike a single chord with me. Great music cue with James Brown, though.

No Action Jackson?

I'm surprised that after THE AVENGERS destroyed the box office this spring, they aren't capitalizing on Sam Jackson's screen mojo. He has a meaty role in this. Why hide it?

Good stuff, but I think the best material is yet to come. A teaser is a teaser. As for Waltz, I gotta argue with some-other than the Teutonic accent and the intellect, Schultz ain't a thing like Landa. He's definitely got that protagonist vibe, violent as he is. Man, I can't wait for this.
