Do these new Amazing Spider-man 2 and Winter Soldier toys reveal story details for the films?

Oct. 10, 2013by: Jesse Giroux

Before we get into these images of Hasbro's new toys for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, a couple of things need to be mentioned. First off, the toys could be spoilers for the films so some of you may want to avoid this. Secondly, as many of you know toy companies can get a little ridiculous with action figures for comic book movies, and the characters shown may not appear in the films.

With that being said, Toy Ark has some pictures from a Hasbro party in New York City of several figures based on CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2. So why the warning above? Well one of the figures for THE WINTER SOLDIER is called "Agents of HYDRA" and that could mean the criminal organization might appear in the film. HYDRA was also in the first movie, but the group has a very long history in the comics, so it wouldn't be all that surprising if HYDRA survived all these years after the events from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, even without Red Skull.

There are several characters shown below that will obviously not appear in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, but we do know there are plans for Green Goblin, even if we don't get him in full Goblin form in this movie. But will he be the Ultimate version of the character, like the figure posted below? One rumor about the character's design was that he would be wearing armor again like in Sam Raimi's films, but Marc Webb's movies are definitely influenced by the Ultimate series, so it does seem likely they would use this version for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.

But these are just action figures, not confirmed plot details or character designs, so take all of this with a massive grain of salt. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER hits theaters April 4th, 2014 and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 will be released on May 2nd, 2014.

Extra Tidbit: Still no look at Rhino for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2? C'mon!

Hasbro's Iron Man 3 figures sucked!!

I hope these figures are more detailed and more articulated than the f@#$ing Iron Man 3 figures( I didn't buy any of those 'cause they looked like cheap crap). Hydra figure looks cool. Electro looks cool. If they charge $9.99 a figure I'm out though.

Hasbro is getting cheap.....

That Goblin figure is just a repainted Marvel Legends Hulk figure from the Wal-Mart exclusive Avengers line. The only difference is sharp nails and the head. Your welcome. Yes, I am nerd.

Goblin Toy is from Infinite Comic series

Everyone is looking too much into the toys on display. What this article doesn't state is that the Green Goblin toy is directly from the Infinite Comic series and not ASM2. Same withe Black Cat, Carnage, and Beetle toys...they are all comic-based.

That's the "Ultimate" version of the Green Goblin [link]
I really hope they're not going with that version for the movie.

Looks like they went the Ultimate Spiderman route with Green Goblin. That's disappointing.

terrible

Every year Spiderman action figures seem to get WORSE AND WORSE!! I kept thinking no one could top how bad the Amazing Spiderman action figure was with its yellow friggin eyes...why in the hell do they have to try to make them look just like they do in the movies??? It always backfires....Look at The Man of Steel action figures...They look hideous....just make the comic book counterpart....that's what the live action movies are mimicking anyway. So we the consumer wind up with a toy that is a

I don't think they necessarily depict the story in the movies - maybe at some point but not the whole movie. For example, if the Winter Soldier carries such a large firearm in the movie, he must have a heck of a bi-cep muscle. As for Spider-Man toys, Electro looks cool although he looks like a pissed off member of the Blue Man Group, hehe.

I agree. One of the War Machine toys for Iron Man 2 had a giant clip-on missile-firing harness that looked ridiculous, but had to be oversized to fit the firing missile play feature.

That we will be getting a proper 6 inch-scale movie Electro is cool and all, but what I really want to see are action figures of Ben Affleck as Batman. I would really love to get my hands on an old Toy Biz movie Daredevil and modify the head to put on a Batman body, but those things are expensive/hard to find now.

Eh.

As far as Hasbro toys go, I guess they're okay. I prefer NECA figures myself. I love how the article states that these are just toys & not confirmed spoilers, plot details or character designs & yet people are commenting about how they don't want to see that Goblin in the flick. It's a toy people. It may not even be based off of the movie. Like all of the specialty suit Batman figures, etc. Half of the toys these companies make have nothing to even do with the flick except for name alone. I

I highly doubt that Sony & Marc Webb would let Hasbro leak they're design for the new version of the Green Goblin especially since we probably won't even see him until part 3.

Eh

Eh I duno. I read and enjoyed some of ultimate spidey, but I don't know how I feel about that design in the film. I really didn't like the first film...I'd go as far as to say spidey 3 had more positives, and I'd rather see a sequel to that. But green goblin will basically just be another lizard then. I don't know. I'm not crazy about it.
