Stop me if you’ve heard this one: there’s another remake of a TV show in the works. Don’t you wish you could get paid to come up with old ideas? This time it’s the Robinson family and the rest of the crew of the Jupiter 2 returning to television; Deadline reports that Irwin Allen's classic series, Lost in Space, is getting a reboot from Legendary TV and DRACULA UNTOLD writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
Sazama and Sharpless are apparently big fans of the series and will be executive producing the show. We don’t know if it’s a true reboot or just a new set of characters in the same situation. The original series premiered on CBS in 1965 and followed a spaceship crewed primarily by the Robinson's and their children, Penny, Judy and Will. The Jupiter 2 also carried the unrelated Major Don West, Doctor Zachary Smith and the Robot, B9.
Since its cancelation there have been two attempts at a TV reboot as well as pilots for a 1970s cartoon and a 2003 live action show with a pilot directed by John Woo. Needless to say, none of those ever worked. You may also remember the big screen version in 1998 with William Hurt, poor guy.
