Strike Back below!
by: Mike Sampson Apr. 21, 2009

Though Jean-Claude Van Damme may have robbed us of seeing him reteam with Dolph Lundgren in THE EXPENDABLES, the much better news is that we get to see Dolph and JCVD reteam in UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: A NEW BEGINNING! According to AITH, the film follows Luc Devereaux as he tries to stop nuclear weapons or something and there's a crazy Chechen nationalist and... OK it's a UNIVERSAL SOLDIER film starring Dolph and JCVD, what else do you need to know?! IGN Movies got the first look at the dynamic duo back in action and I couldn't help but notice they're framed just like the shape of a heart. Awwww. For a less homoerotic version, you can click through to see the full pic at IGN.

Extra Tidbit: Me thinks the new subtitle should be UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: FORBIDDEN LOVE.

This could be bigger than The Ram vs Ayatollah 2! Unless JCVD can't ram jam anymore, then it will suck.

I got the impression that Van Damme pseudo mocking himself in JCVD was his stepping down from the whole B-movie fight genre, guess not. He's really under contract for this?

good stuff
van damme is under contract and had to do this, as is lundgren i think.

If it is done well it could be good fun, but i doubt it would appeal to a wide audience..

as for the expendables, van damme was not explained his role and feared he would end up in a typecast no brain role. I think he made a mistake, but also think Sly might have underestimated van damme's criteria.

Waitamnute! Wasn't Dolph Lundgren the bad guy in the first Universal Soldier, in which he ended up being minced up by a wood chipper???

I keep asking myself the same question! The sad conclusion I come to is that his ego must be so big he thought Stallone would come begging with a better offer... but he didn't and now it's Dolph who is quids in!

It's a shame because I like Van Damme. People will mock me saying this, but I think he has some charisma on screen, and has proved he can act.

why why why?
Why would JCVD turn down The Expendables?? Why why why? It just makes no sense. That guy is showing that he still has no sense.
