Dominic Cooper to star as Ian Fleming in a 4-part BBC America miniseries

Dominic Cooper, who has played Howard Stark in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER and a good vampire in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER is getting a chance to play the creator of James Bond, Ian Fleming, in a BBC miniseries.

With the 50th anniversary of Bond having passed and SKYFALL setting records around the world, now is a great time for an in-depth look at the life and times of the man who thought up 007. FLEMING will costar Annabelle Wallis as the inspiration for the prototypical Bond girl, Muriel Wright. The film will be produced by Sky Atlantic and BBC America and is said to take a no holds barred look at the 007 creator and his early life set against the permissive society of war-torn WWII London.

Fleming’s life has been portrayed many times in films, notably starring Jason Connery, son of Sean, in SPYMAKER. No word on when we can expect to see FLEMING, but it is coming together nicely. Cooper blew me away in THE DEVIL’S DOUBLE, a movie I feel he should have won an Oscar for. Wallis is pretty hot and previously played a spy in the short-lived ABC series PAN-AM. Hopefully we get to see this movie sooner rather than later.
