Don't Be Afraid of the Dark or this first still and poster from the film

Don't be scared little one.

A new poster for DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK has debuted online as part of an exclusive/Comic-Con giveaway via the peeps over at CHUD. On the other side of the web, Reelz Channel has a still of Katie Holmes from the film.

The story is about a little girl (Bailee Madison) who discovers evil creatures in the basement when she is is sent to live with her Father (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend (Katie Holmes). The creatures want to claim her as their own and then plan to unleash havok upon her family. Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins penned the screenplay.

The art for the poster was done by the director of the film, Troy Nixey. Nixey has illustrated for several comic creators, among them Mike Mignola (Hellboy) and Neil Gaiman (Stardust). As for the still, I enjoy Katie Holmes and the background of the picture is something wicked--a boy horrified wrapped in the clutches of eerie tree branches.

Extra Tidbit: Just seeing "Guillermo del Toro presents" gets you excited.
