Doomsday trailer!

01.15.2008
Judging from the trailer, Neil Marshall's DOOMSDAY has just about everything I need in a post-apocalyptic action flick.

- A huge walled-off chunk of real estate: check
- Gratuitous shot of Rhona Mitra's hot ass: check
- Mutants with tattoos, mohawks, motorcycles and a taste for human flesh: check
- Mutants with painful-looking pustules: check
- A land vehicle leftover from DAMNATION ALLEY: check
- That Irish guy from BRAVEHEART who sounds like he gargles with broken glass: check
- Cars with bones: check
- Malcolm McDowell: check

Consider my ticket already bought.

Doomsday

Doomsday

Doomsday

Doomsday

Doomsday

Extra Tidbit: Something tells me that when the world actually goes to shit, it won't be nearly as exciting or cool-looking.

This looks like a mix between Escape From New York and 28 Weeks Later; a terrible movie and a good one. And this looks like crap.

people this is the same piece of shit movie that hollywood frequently spits out though i was suprised to see irealand on it and not just a giant map of the us i have to admit but then i was just reminded of 28 days later. this looks the greatest piece of generic horseshit if we keep getting excited about these movies then hollywood isn't going to change it's product just make more of this. and dear god if i thought the guy sounded like king leonidas at the start i was confident when he screamed

yeah fuck yahoo

The people behind Yahoo are a bunch of dumb shits. Whoever gave the go ahead for a flash player is an idiot who wanted to jump on the bandwagon of every other website in 2007 who decided that using standard Quicktime was no longer good enough and that Flash Players are the way to go. Well we've all known since the dawn of the fucking world wide web that Flash Players are shit in playback. Everyone just needs their own unique play button and their logo in the corner.

God damnit, Apple should

God damnit, Apple should start forking out more money so I can watch the "exclusive" trailers on their site, right now their exclusives suck ass. If not Apple, then Microsoft should get some exclusives for the Xbox Marketplace so I can watch the trailers properly.

I refuse to watch this trailer because of Yahoo, so fuck the producers behind this, you got one less view.

Might be good.

I really enjoyed Dog Soliders and The Descent. This one looks like it could be good.
I dont like the lead actress though. She reminds me of a non-vamp version of the lead in Underworld.

I never try to predict a movie's quality based on the trailer alone. Okay, so that's not always true, but certainly if I've been curious about a movie for a while (like with this one), and the trailer is "so-so," I just tell myself that that was JUST the trailer. The trailer to this movie is definitely banking on the 28 Weeks Later/Road Warrior/I am Legend/Escape from New York kind of angle - and perhaps the plot itself has its similarities - but otherwise, I'm expecting a movie with a

Certainly after THE DESCENT, I might add.

Yeah, but...

It definitely is looking like 28 weeks/Road Warr/Escape from N.Y. No question, but I trust Neil Marshal, I know he is going to deliver us a good time, regardless of not coming with a piece of material that right now is not to fresh. It looks like everything we've been waiting for. I am there, give me your best shot.

I wish the studios stopped giving Yahoo exclusive trailers.

If it's not on Quick Time it won't look good

Right. I'm there. I don't care whether the reviews come out unanimously negative, I'm still fucking there.

collage...

well friends and neighbours...i am of two minds on this. i went and took a looky-loo at the trailer, and definitely got the road warrior meets 28 wks later meets escape from n.y vibe.

however, i am seriously infatuated with the lead heroine (any other nip/tuck fans here?) she is smokin' hot, and poised for the big leagues.

with that being said, unfortunately it just looks like a collage of every post-apocalyptic film ever made, but at the same time, could be worth checking out anyway,

i need to be more selective, and get a life, but damn i love movies...

meh...

It looks more of the same. Another outbreak...another virus...can't they think of anything else? I didn't expect this from this director. Way too generic...too many cliches. Almost everything is like a carbon copy of everything. eek.

Underwhelming...

This looks painfully generic, like something Paul W.S. Anderson would do. And shouldn't a post-apocalyptic UK look a little less glossy than that???

Wow I really loved the Descent but this one certainly looks ten flavours of meh. The premise actually didn't sound as generic as it ended up. Definately doesn't look very original or interesting for that matter.

Not at all what I expected from Neil Marshall

Wow. I didn't expect something like this. Reminds me vaguely of Escape from New York.

Maybe a little bit of Escape from New York, too? Either way it's got one impressive cast of Brits, and will probably be more of an homage to Road Warrior than a rip-off. So I'm stoked.

Cool

Looks like a cross between Mad Max and 28 Weeks Later. Which is a cool thing! Considering its from the guy who brought us The Descent, Im pretty sure this will rock. It has cult classic written all over it.
