Lost among the craziness known as Comic Con this weekend came quietly on the net the first teaser trailer to a film many have put on their watch list, THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY. And if I hear one single soul mentioning Stuart Townsend...

Based on Oscar Widle’s only full length novel, the film follows Ben Barnes (Prince Capser Caspian) as a handsome young Victorian fellow whose looks and health remain through time while a portrait of him degrades with each sin and passing year. Things get really messy for him when he agrees to star in a Stephen Norrington film so crappy it...Never mind. Colin Firth co-stars along Ben Chaplin, Fiona Shaw and the very lovely Emilia Fox.

Here’s the vid, enjoy. The film opens in the UK on September 9th, 2009. No U.S. date yet.

Extra Tidbit: I was working in a bookstore when LXG came out, and in the following weeks I counted over a hundred teens wanting to read Dorian Gray. At least that film was good for something...

Wow. I was actually really excited when I heard they were making this movie. Now that I've seen the trailer all interest has completely fizzled out for me. I was hoping that the movie would be dark and mysterious, like the book. I was thinking it would have a Prestige-like feel to it. Instead it looks too much like it's for teen audiences. Does this have anything to do with Twilight?

I heard from Empire this was only going to be released in Europe, does anyone know if thats true? I think this could be a cool film but if it doesnt hit the states who cares?
