Downey on Iron recast
Robert Downey Jr had a couple of comments about the now infamous recasting of Terrence Howard's Jim Rhodes character from this summer's IRON MAN. Don Cheadle replaced him, after allegedly delivering an unsatisfactory performance and for carrying too high a price-tag. Neither director Jon Favreau or Downey Jr had commented on this development until now. Downey said:
"I had nothing to do with that decision. I love Terrence very very much. Thatís all Iíll say because I havenít talked to him yet... Iíve always admired Don [Cheadle]. Itís one of those situations where I still donít quite know what happened or why. Hereís what happens too: things happen and you wind up commenting on them before youíve actually talked to the people and itís in poor taste."
I've been reading a lot of what's said about this whole thing and am I really the only person who thinks this is a good move? Howard is a great actor but his Rhodes is too soft. The voice is all wrong. He needs to be bad ass and commanding, like me, or Rambo.
|Extra Tidbit:||While he made MISSION TO MARS, Cheadle slept on the actual film set to ensure he was as in character as possible.|
